Up 3 with about 5 seconds left. Shooting 2. Missed both. Outlet pass to 8th grade Cole Von Handorf who took a few dribbles and buried a 22 footer to send it to OT.

Tough night for Ludlow.

I think that Von Handorf finished with 20 (four 3's, three 2's, and 2 for 2 at the line). The Howard kid for Ludlow was impressive for most of the game with a good looking shot. He finished with at least 25. It was unbelievable how Ludlow squandered their certain victory. Villa was up by 2 at half, 32-30 where neither team could get much edge on each other, then the Panthers came out smoking and won the 3rd quarter battle 20-5 making it 50-37. Villa won the 4th quarter 25-12. As Clyde said they missed numerous FT's with a decent lead with little over a minute to go. Villa capitalized almost every time and well enough to knot it up taking it in to overtime. The shot to tie it from Von Handorf was amazing. Villa continued their dominance in the OT period taking that one 12-5 where Ludlow continued their sad stagnation. The 4th quarter and the OT period belonged to Villa 37-17. I don't think that it would be an overstatement to say that Ludlow REALLY needs to practice shooting FT's.

 

I'd also like to add that the 8th grader Von Handorf must have ice water running through his veins. He's as cool as a cucumber. Nothing at all rattles him which is extremely amazing considering his age.

I'm surprised by this one. I thought Ludlow would be able to handle Villa. Hopefully they will get them the 2nd time around. Go Panthers!

The game was very exciting! Villa was down 10 with a minute to go and battled back. Villa junior, Troy Phelps, scored 10 points and pulled in 10 rebounds to ring up his 5th straight double-double. Troy also had a clutch 3 pointer to set up the last second 3 pointer by Cole VonHandorf, who finished with 20 points. Villa senior, Thomas Steinkoenig scored 9 points with 6 rebounds, and Villa senior, Andy Piccirillo scored 14 points. Ludlow has a nice team and is very well coached, but it was a great team effort by Villa on the come back. Just goes to show that it ain't over 'til it's over!
