Halftime score: Holmes 47-28. 3-pointers: L 8 (Thompson 4, Molitor 2, Carter, Brown); H 7 (Palmer 4, Bolden, Coston, Glover)

 

Three freshmen score their first career varsity points for Holmes. ( Arnold, Green, Broiley) Very talented group.

This might be one of the only times this year that Holmes faces a team with someone quicker than them (Carter).

 

Holmes has a pretty well balanced team, with some inside game and a few guys who can knock down the 3 ball.

 

Lloyd was in some early foul trouble which helped Holmes spread the lead.

On memory alone, some facts may be sketchy:

 

A feisty Holmes jumped out quick scoring first 6 points of game. Lloyd showed a lot of heart and did a fairly good job of beating the press but couldn't connect on their shots in the early goings. End of 1st quarter score I believe was 17-6. Lloyd stayed as tough as they could with little bench support but the Bulldogs extended their lead by 19 ending the first half 47-28. The Juggs came out swinging in the 3rd closing the gap to 13 by end of quarter. The Bulldogs weren't phased and came back dominantly in the forth quickly pushing their lead to the 20 point range. Honestly, Holmes could have had a much bigger lead earlier on than they did but some of their close range shots were a bit sloppy. Lloyd really isn't too bad as they have decent feisty guard play and a couple of theirs players can light it up from 3 point range. I'm not too keen on the names of the Lloyd players. Even with all the odds against them the Juggs stayed true and played their hearts out until the final buzzer. Lloyd is no cupcake and will have a decent competitive season with talented players and little bench. The Bulldogs just proved to be way to strong for them. Sorry no names and specific player details provided...

^Nice write-up, B-Ball-Fan. I remember from last year how the Juggs are real fighters. Hope they can get a win soon.

Palmer has played well the first two games. Playing off the ball and being able to show off hid true guard skulls is really helping him.

 

Bolden being the leading scorer doesn't surprise me. As good as the supporting cast is, Bolden might be the most talented kid on the team, even as a sophomore.
