The team that KHSAA needs to reclassify is South Warren. I know they are a new school but IMO the KHSAA needs to be more proactive about classification. No reason a 5A school gets to compete in 3A. With all that being said I'm fairly certain that Monroe will be back in 2A after the next classification...

 

We noticed the same last year when Central visited Fort Campbell; they had at least 30 more kids dressed then we did. Participation is pretty high at FC with Coach Berner, but we were quite a few players short when we played Central.

 

I agree on South Warren, don't know what criteria the KHSAA used in placing them in 3A, it was not based upon male student population.

One of the things that has really helped Central is the number of kids in the neighborhood staying put. I would venture to say that many of their big boys and talented athletes would have been going to Male back during the Redmon era before JCPS started to not allow so many kids not in the traditional program to attend Male. I would say that combine that with a coach who has really connected with these kids and you end up with the squad you see today.

Maybe I misread him, but I thought SEMPERFIFALCON was suggesting the KHSAA should bump Central to 4A because of their high participation rate. That may not have been a serious suggestion by SEMPERFIFALCON, but if it were, I want to hear his reasoning.

 

Believe me, if anybody on here has reason to want to see Central move up in class it would probably be me (Belfry fan). Truth is, though, playing Central has made Belfry better and although our path to a state championship would be easier without them in the way, I like the challenge. Regardless, I don't think it would be fair to move them up based on participation rate.

I got the feeling after seeing their facility's of "if you build it they will come". Not sure how long Central has been around but the facility appeared to be about 6-7 years old, the state championship banners appear to coincide with the age of their compound.

They are one of the older schools in town. They were the African American school back in the day and at one point not many schools would play them because of that, that is one of the reasons why St.X has a series with them. Back then the Tigers were one of the only non-African American schools who would play them. Things have changed thankfully.

Please tell me where I implied they should be reclassified? I simply replied to a comment about them being reclassified with an observation that they dress a lot of players... Not sure how you got anything from my post that indicated I think they should be reclassified? If anything I say great job Central for getting the participation that high, in that neighborhood there's a lot of bad things those kids could be doing if they weren't playing football...

Great game by 2 teams that both played hard and showed a lot of class. 2 very well coached teams

As Monroe Co. fan give Central al the credit that they deserve. They been behind in the fourth quarter in their last 3 games but have come back and won all 3 a mark of a truly good team. Good luck to Central at state.
