November 14, 201213 yr I haven't followed too closely, but is he not taking any type of medication? No clue. Good question.
November 14, 201213 yr I don't feel bad for him at all. There are sacrifices you have to make to make a living. No one's job is absolutely perfect. Everyone does things they don't want to do. I understand the anxiety and the panic attacks, whatever. Get it figured out, get on a plane and stop crying. When I'm working in the hospital and I have to clean out someone's open wound that has their spine poking out at you, or if I have to wipe someone's butt out, I don't want to do it. But I certainly don't complain to the hospital about it and claim it's not fair because I just don't like to do it. I'd feel the same way if he didn't have mental issues. He's saying he's trying to get it figures out but the Rockets aren't being as helpful as they promised to be.
November 15, 201213 yr Author I do feel bad for him but at the same time how did he not figure this out during 3 years playing college basketball? It's just unrealistic to think you can make it in the NBA not getting on a plane a few times a week.
November 15, 201213 yr There's a lot more to it than just plane rides. I was reading up on it and one of Royce's claims was that since he wasn't getting to play it was causing his anxiety to flair up and that he needed to be playing in order to help him deal with his anxiety. And no I'm not making that up.....

It's just unrealistic to think you can make it in the NBA not getting on a plane a few times a week. It has always been an issue. From what I read it was the reason he did not visit Kentucky the previous off-season and decided upon Iowa State. He and his grandpa would drive to the games.
November 15, 201213 yr He really should have stayed in school and gotten a degree and gave up basketball. It's obvious he's not going to be able to function in an NBA lifestyle.

I demand my employer helps me get over that.

Which makes a ton of sense considering how big of a punk the guy was in high school and college (before the media fell in love with him last year).

I demand my employer helps me get over that. Not saying I agree, just stating another claim made by Royce. He had other claims as well. Just a very unique situation and I hate to see it play out because I really want to see Royce White have a solid pro career. A lot of people never liked him, and a lot of people who did like him turned on him after his UK/MKG comments but I still want to see him have success. He is very talented, just has to get it together whether its through medication, therapy, or simply just meeting his anxiety disorder head on. Unfortunately this may never happen and he could possibly just fade into abyss. There have been a lot of guys with NBA talent who just didn't pan out for certain reasons, Royce may be next in line. I hope they get it worked out.
November 15, 201213 yr I don't want to be insensitive to his issues. I have family that has anxiety issues. However, i cannot and will not feel sorry for someone who has the opportunity to make over a million dollars a year playing a game! There are days when i get up and i am anxious about my job, my life, if my family will be okay, but i still go to work! Why? BECAUSE I HAVE TO!! I am a father, husband, and a son and people need me and are counted on me. He has to MAN UP and do what he needs to do. If he doesn't like the NBA lifestyle, go find a job driving a truck or sitting in an office making 50,000-100,000 a year and be content. This COUNTRY has to stop crippling its citizens by allowing people to have accomadations and allowances for every little thing that bothers them. We are crippling each generation more and more! Learn to survive and fight for what is yours not have it gave to you!

Mike and Tony said it best on PTI yesterday, most people with anxiety disorders are narcissists. They usually feel that their problems are more important than other peoples problems and they feel that they are more important than other people. It's just how a lot of people with anxiety disorders are programmed to think whether its rational or not.
