Also Mercer does have a JV kicker but he is currently hurt and they don't have a backup kicker.

All I'm saying is that if Robbins was playing QB for varsity then I could understand the beef but the fact of the matter is that Mercer's QB has seen way more varsity time at QB than Josiah has. And Hoskins doesn't play very much varsity at all. I've never seen anyone complain about freshmen and sophomores playing JV before.

Championship game? FCHS beat Mercer by 40 and they are in this conference?? I think the conference decided to only let half the teams have a play off that was originally set forth.

 

FCHS is not in this conference as far as I know.

If Mercer expects to start a streak against Boyle they need to be able to play beter defense.

Boyle will be more explosive on offense next year and remember they put up 59 on Friday

night. Boyle has a very good group of kids on the JV team in addition to Hoskins and Robbins.

Mercer, feel good about what your kids were able to accomplish, but don't put too much

pressure on your kids for next year. I think you will be better but not any better than 3rd in

the district.

Don't know anything about basketball sounds like that shouldn't have happened. I agree that Robbins and Hoskins are great players, game changers and am looking forward to the future of these 2 teams. I agree that Mercer still has a ways to go especially in believing they can win. I understand two different philosphys on the playing of kids down some coaches will and some won't risk injury and your right about if Davis got hurt ...and from what I was told by a coach that is a good friend of mine Sparrow does not take snaps at all anymore and hasnt in a long time and he does not practice JV either. I know that for a fact because Smith takes the snaps at JV practice according to my son. Sparrow plays scout team during varsity practice. But I was also told that Robbins takes no snaps at all either so that is a testament to both of those players.

They had Lex Cath down going into the fourth and they were waiting on them to score and when they did Mercer quit then. These kids are showing that they can compete with Boyle. Apparently you haven't seen our middle school team this year Country. I invite you over to the high school field Tuesday night. We easily have 3-4 if not more that can come up and help the Varsity this year. Don't put too much pressure on your kids.

While I do know the middle school team at Mercer fairly well I will also add that middle school results don't always mean equal success at the high school level(see Mercer Class of 2012). That being said I do think Mercer will field some of the best teams they have has since the merger year over the next four years. I admittedly know very little of Boyle's future outside of Robbins/Hoskins/Burke next season. If Country is correct about Boyle being explosive on offense then I definitely look forward to the Mercer/Boyle matchups over the next four years. Should be fun.

I disagree with you and Pitbull. I don't think they'd contribute much at all. Special teams at the most but I question that also. Next year.

 

You are also proving my point as far as middle school goes. Boyle middle has never been as dominant as the high school. That is one thing all Boyle fans will tell you. The leaps and bounds these boys go through from middle school to high school is unparalleled. I'd say Country is more knowledgable on Boyle's immediate future than I am.

And I wasn't even trying to stir the pot. Just speaking my opinion. I think Mercer will be much improved over the next four years. Now I am intrigued to see just how well Boyle can replace all these seniors this year. Boyle will be very inexperienced next season and I can't recall a Boyle team this inexperienced taking over before.
