If frosh are routinely playing meaningfully snaps in a varsity game... you have real problems

 

If memory serves correct (Rock Pride can correct me if needed), James Quick and Jason Hatcher played meaningful snaps towards the end of their Freshman year at Trinity. No real problems with Trinity.

Also don't assume you're talking about a 14 yr old. The kid could be 15 and turning 16. So it would be like a soph in some cases. I don't know if Ryle is playing a frosh but I do know they've used 8th graders on the frosh team. So depending on age the kid could help. I do know there have been large school teams that have won state that played a frosh or two.

Yes I do understand why they played against those two teams, but it is my understanding that a few of them also got some snaps against Dixie earlier in the year. Are there not enough JV kids at CovCath that would have liked to get a few more snaps in those games. Highlands plays those same two teams and they do not move their frosh up to play in those games. Obviously the 2 programs have different philosophies, but I do not remember hearing of CovCath dressing frosh on Friday nights much less having them get snaps in varsity games.

 

Again just like Clyde said above those kinds got in when the score was well out of hand. The score from that game was 54-0. When you're JV continues to thump the other team then in a lot of cases as a show of sportsmanship you continue to put in the younger athletes and give them a chance to play. I see nothing wrong with Freshmen playing in any of the 3 games mentioned by yourself or Clyde.

Newport Catholic also has a freshman that plays in the starting line up. Maybe because they are a smaller school.

If you saw the Team Kentucky Middle School team last year you would see there are at least 20 kids that can contribute as freshmen for a lot of schools.
