The battle for the #2 seed takes place Friday at Boyle County on the Rebel turf.

 

 

I expect freshman Drew Davis to start or see at lot of time at QB for Mercer. Kid has looked good as the QB.

 

Casey Whittle had a great game last Friday and looks to continue on a roll against Mercer. Boyle's defense is better than Mercer's and both teams play a ton of players both ways.

 

 

I'll take Boyle over Mercer by 10.

Boyle Co. 35-21.

Games are important now and Boyle will be ready. Boyle 40-14.

Lol keep on overlooking the Titans. I'll take Mercer. Got a feeling James Johnson will have a field day. I'll give credit though Boyle will be a tough challenge cause it's Boyle. Alot of pride and tradition there that the players play with and for. Mercer WILL be ready. LET'S GO TITANS!!! See ya Friday.

Maybe if the Titan defense could prove they could stop someone then maybe people wouldn't overlook them. Taylor County shouldn't have scored last Friday. The loss of Jordan Ellery has been huge. I expect a good game with a late Boyle td making the 10 point difference. I expect it to be tight all four quarters.

 

 

The Titans are a year away from battling for the district title and anyone following the Titans knows they'll be battling for that title for the next 3-5 years. I look forward to watching them grow.

Well it makes me feel good that someone is noticing the changes here at Mercer. They have a staff that finally believes in the players and that makes a whole lot of difference. They have the players attention. Yes Taylor shouldn't have but they scored quick and I believe they let their guard down. This is a rivalry game. They won't let their guard down this time. Like I said Boyle will play with heart and pride and for the tradition that has been built. Mercer has the talent to compete and also beat them this year. They have to play Friday with pride and heart also and they will. Drew has helped the passing game now. Even though he has played two games and even though those two teams wasn't that good defensively he has gotten the freshman jitters out.

I'm going to enjoy watching Drew Davis play in high school. Him and Tanner Robins.

Yeah Tanner will be there next year. Right now he's focused on middle school though. Drew has been impressive though for a freshman in my book. I think he's over half way to 1000 yards passing in those two games. I don't care who the teams are thats impressive to me.

Mercer did have more rushing yards against LexCath than Boyle did and Mercer didn't have a passing game that game either. LexCath had more rushing yards on Boyle than they did on Mercer. Mercer gave up a lot of the rushing yards in the fourth quarter. Mercer is also a better road team than what people think. Bolin played all of the Mercer game and half of the Boyle game do yes LexCath would run more then.

LexCath also ran a lot more than normal against Boyle because Bolin went out. Their running game also proved to be successful against Boyle. If James Johnson isn't gassed by the fourth quarter he'll have a chance to do his thing. Boyle has been prone to giving up big plays in the fourth quarter this season.

 

I don't think this a the road game for Mercer anyways. They'll have plenty of support there Friday night.

The only thing I'm worried about is Mercer being mentally focused. Not making the stupid penalties like they have the past couple of games. That will be where Mercer will lose. Boyle won't make those mistakes.

Boyle has to continue to win the turnover battle. Mercer's defense is very opportunistic and I'd be interested in seeing how many interceptions they have.

I do agree with your post. At the same time it depends on which Boyle teams shows up as well. I don't feel like this Boyle team is built to come from behind so I do think if Mercer is able to jump out to a lead or a sizable lead early Boyle will spend a lot of energy trying to get back in the game. I know both teams play a bunch of players both ways so whoever is the freshest in the 4th quarter will be at an advantage for sure.
