jolmstead
With Jerry Mohr's retirement at Scott there appears to be political churings with the Kenton County School system over who is going to be running the Swim programs at Scott and Dixie, and even more importantly, who is going to be running the meets at Scott? Today finishes what would normally be the second week of preseason conditioning and it is my understanding that neither Dixie nor Scott have hired coaches. I also do not believe a replacement for the retiring Jerry Mohr has been named. It is hard for me to imagine those meets at Scott being run without Jerry Mohr and Ed Cook. Are our kids going to suffer immensly because of the failure to build another indoor aquatics facility in NKy???? What is going on at KCSD? hoops5
I sure hope not. Our school has invested in another practice lane at Silverlake. We have so many kids interested that they may have to have make some cuts this year. We are not a powerhouse team, but still have a solid group of kids anxious for the season to begin. I gotta go to work
Political churrings in Kenton County? No never... Jerry Mohr is a huge loss, he has an incredible impact on so many young people throughout his career. The District knew of his upcoming retirement a year in advance, maybe more. Shouldn't be taking this long..
Oldbird
It is an absolute mess. Jerry Mohr and Ed Cook were tireless workers for the NKY swimming community. Jerry retired, but the loss of Ed is huge. He will be missed and I am sad to loose his contributions.
Clyde
I sure hope not. Our school has invested in another practice lane at Silverlake. . What does that mean? Does it mean you're renting a lane?
hoops5
What does that mean? Does it mean you're renting a lane? Yes. They pay an hourly rate per lane for the team practice sessions.
jolmstead
New coaches hired for Dixie and Scott. Kevin Mayleben is hired at Scott and Courtney Sorrell gets the job at Dixie. Ed Cook gets left out in the cold. http://nky.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20121024/SPT0302/310240156/

Oldbird
Did Coach Mohr also retire from coaching XC? Yes, but I think his retirement is effective at the end of the semester.

Would love to know the real story why a coach like Ed Cook had to reapply for his job and then wasn't rehired.

Dixie had a banner year in the pool, and Simon Kenton had one of the best years in their history. Jerry Mohr was also aquatics director and ran the meets. I know Ed could not take that job because he coaches cc and track as well. Those guys coached 2 teams and ran the meets. There are bound to be lots of bumps at the meets this year. hoops5
St Henry had a duel meet at Dearborn, IN. Dearborn has a nice pool facility. I was told that neighboring Lawrenceburg HS also has a pool. Just crazy that only one HS in NKY has a pool.
