October 17, 201213 yr He, at the time, wasn't in fear or apprehension of being struck again. He was no longer in danger. That is why it is not self defense, IMO. She did whatever and then stepped back. He stopped the bus and could have kicked her off. He had a second to collect himself and think out his plan of action. #2 has merit. That is the law. He was not attacked by a knife or a continuosly punched. So she could just keep hitting him once and then run away and all is good? He's not allowed to fight back if she throws one punch? She wasn't leaving the bus. She spit on him. She hit him. She threatened him. Its not like it was an unprovoked attack.
October 17, 201213 yr mex is right. At no time was his life in danger. The video plainly shows him sizing her up and he even said....'You're going to jail now!!!' three times before he imitated Mike Tyson's Punch Out.(original Nintendo) He should have pulled over and called the police and had her removed. Not punch her in the jaw. Plus, she resembles a female. Dudes can never hit females. Unwritten law of life. He'll pay big time.

A man hitting a woman unprovoked is one thing. A man who hit a woman after she spit on him and hit him in the face? That's different. Edited October 17, 201213 yr by PurplePride92 Rule 8

That's different. I don't disagree with you but she'll probably win in the court of law. That's all I am saying. I think mex is right. If she was on top of him or coming at him with a weapon he'd be fine. She was done at the time. Legally and I'm certain his training calls for him to pull over and call the cops. Not uppercut her. I'm glad he did though. I'm gonna watch it again.

He'll plea to a lesser charge and get probation and probably some anger management courses.

I don't think he deserves to be charged though. She does IMO...
October 17, 201213 yr Na, she won't win in court...it'll settle out of court. He'll plea to a lesser charge and get probation and probably some anger management courses. She'll get a free bus pass for life out of it too.

October 17, 201213 yr Agreed. She did start it. Be nice to see him file assault charges too. I would! That way you have some leverage to say, "you don't press charges and I won't either!"
October 18, 201213 yr Na, she won't win in court...it'll settle out of court. He'll plea to a lesser charge and get probation and probably some anger management courses. That is the path that will be taken. You are correct.
October 18, 201213 yr Agreed. She did start it. Be nice to see him file assault charges too. Exactly.
