Looking forward to this weeks game. Pretty sure that GRC looked at their schedule and figured that this was as winnable of a game as they have over the last half of the season. Creek probably feels the same. Looking forward to a good game. Creek coming off of a heartbreaker against Madison Central and GRC played tough with Lafayette. Should be fun....

Was getting ready to start this thread and you beat me to the punch. Can a Mod add a poll to this please?

 

Either this game will be 7-0, or 63-56. Doubtful that it will be somewhere in the middle.

 

GRC's run game was dramatically improved over the past couple of weeks and for them to get this game it will have to fire on all cylinders for all 4 quarters. Passing game shows life at times, but it can be suspect. Cards defense will have to limit Oxdine's yardage and push him to the outsides to have some success.

 

Tates Creek defense has been suspect all season as they seem content at times to just let their offense try and outscore the opponents. This is why I tend to think that this game will be high scoring.

 

I see special teams equal, and of course The Creek has the advantage playing at home. Reflection on all things - GRC can win this game. IF they have the gas in the tank.

Good analogy. You may be surprised however. Oxendine is a small part of their offense this year. Creek opens up and throws the ball a ton. They mix in the running game with Oxendine and Grimes in the backfield. Truthfully, the strength of the offense is its Receivers and QB. Mixed with Oxendines flexibility. I'll give you who to watch for in this game shortly.

The emergence of Soph. QB #4 Graham Gordon has shifted it's offense to attack on the perimeter and away from the ground and pound of years past with Oxendine. Gordon leads 6A in passing yardage and throws to what I see as one of the best receiving duos in the state. #19 JR. Speedster RJ Taylor leads the receiving corps and is currently 7th in 6A receiving and his counterpart on the opposite side is #8 6'2 JR. Tavon Dunn who is 8th in 6A receiving. They have 10 TDs and 1000 receiving yards between them. Oxendine and Grimes are dangerous out of the backfield and causes a lot of teams problems. Throw in Sr. WR/RB Marcus Wilkers #9th in 6A receiving and you have a very potent passing attack. It's pick your poison. Creeks problem has been when it needs to grind for yards and points due to its young line. That is where they have had issues is at the point of attack on both sides. Skill position wise they match up with just about anyone but they suffer in the trenches as the young lines grow and mature.

Would love to go to this game, but going up to spend the weekend with my mother. Won't have internet or cell phone service. Will have to wait and find out Sunday night if we pulled the upset or not.:cry:

i hate that for your kids at GRC. I know that they are putting in the effort and not getting the results. That is difficult to deal with. We have had our own challenges at Creek believe me. We have let a couple golden opportunities slip through our fingers this year that could change a tough year, into a special one. Namely the Harlan County game and the Madison Central game last week. But it is what it is.

 

Ill be screaming loud for the Commodores this week but I respect and wish nothing but the best for GRC going forward. Just need you guys to wait another week to get your first win.

Not sure about GRC, but Creek isn't a letdown. Its a very young team rebuilding and finally finding a little footing. It let 2 opportunities slip through their hands for strong victories against Harlan County and Madison Central. 3-5 would be 5-3 and sitting pretty after playing a very challenging schedule. Disappointing maybe, but Creek still has plenty of football to play. Now, if next years group has this season, that's a letdown. Next year I think Creek will be a top 10 ranked team with the amount of talent returning out of the Junior and Sophomore class

Tates Creek is still a very good team, and will be tough to beat at home. Both Harlan and Madison Central losses were tough. They did bounce back after the close Harlan game with a win over a good Corbin team.

 

GRC has played a very diffucult schedule this year, and while some of the losses have been under-performing, they have played some of the tough teams much closer than others. Just need them to put all of the good things together and ensure that they keep penalties down.

 

The biggest concern I have for GRC is the height of the TC recievers. They will get thier passing yards, but our corners will have to keep them to short yardage, and not give up the +15 yrd completions.

The other side of that is i'm sure Corbin and West Jessamine feel they let opportunities against Creek slip through their hands and Creek could possibly be sitting at 1-7. The victories you talk of slipping through Creek's hands are those where they NEVER led at any point in the entire game.

I beleive the loser of this game most likely plays Trinity in the 1st round of the playoffs. Sounds like incentive to win this week!

Actually Block. You are wrong. They were down 30-6 to Harlan County and took the lead going into the 4th quarter. And had a chance to go up 2 scores but fumbled it away. And was down 3 with the ball late in the 4th after being down 3 scores against Central. Terrible view and take. But it is yours to have

Also, Was up 14-0 at half against Corbin and never trailed. SMH....

And MMCM, true that the loser more than likely plays Trinity. But Creek has a chance to beat Lafayette as they are truly Creek's rival and is always a good game.
