WYMT Mountain Classic Championship Game

Featured Replies

I think it should stay in Knott Co., where it was started.....IMO, its not even the same when it goes to Perry Central.... Leave it in Hindman.

I could not make it over for any games Pat Man but the gym looked nice on WYMT,nice face lift. :D :thumb:

Why? Knott Co. Central ran an extremely successful tournament. Everyone I talked to was very pleased with the management of the MT. Classic this year. Were you at any of the games My Adidas?

Must've been too far of a drive from Pikeville. :D

Thanks.... it is very nice!

I agree...Move it to the 15th Region... Expo Center in Pikeville

I doubt very seriously that this tourney will ever be held at the Expo Center. They would have to just about sell out every game to make a profit. It would be a great place for it to be held, but I just don't see it happening anytime soon.

This tournament needs a facelift. Take it to the new Pikeville Civic Center.

Judging by the pic on BGP home page, the attendance for the Leslie/North game (which should have been the best game) was very low. I counted about 10 fans in the bleachers. I know it was a small section of bleachers but they looked empty. IMO the tourney needs more than a facelift.

The picture on the cover page was of the side Phelps (Hornet fans were long gone by the time this photo was snapped) and North Laurel were sitting on.There was still a big crowd for this game considering there was a 2hr delay due to power outage and the fact this game didn't tipoff until after 10 PM. North Laurel did not bring very many fans to the classic. I really don't think anyone could have put on a better tournament than this year's Classic. This comes from personal involvement and many comments from fans, coaches

administrators, and The WYMT Classic committee. No word on total attendance

but appears to be the best in years. NO FACELIFT NEEDED! Go to http://www.wsgs.com for a group of photos from tournament. Knott's gym looked fantastic! as these pics will show.

Yeah it definatly needs a facelift....It's getting pretty boring now a days....I mean c'mon...Phelps was in it this year...

I don't think the gym or administrators are the part of the face that needs lifted, I can't say the same for th WYMT Classic Committee though. Anyone that thinks the WYMT Classic isn't going down hill must have blinders on.

Why, because Clay hasn't won it in awhile?

I am going to have to take skinpig's side on this issue, not because Clay hasnt won it in awhile, but because they were not even invited to the tournament. History should, in this case, go a long way. Clay has won the tournament, i think, 9 times and went to the tournament just after they won the state tournament. Could have went anywhere in the U.S. but they chose hindman. What did Paintsville do, they went to Las Vegas after they won it.

Let me see if I've got this straight: You think some convoluted idea of past loyalty should dictate who gets invited to this tournament? Wow.

The game being played at about 10:30 because of a power outage didn't help the cause.

Yup. There was a pretty good crowd filtering in during the delay, but by the time the first game was over and they did all those silly dance team displays before the North-Leslie game, it was too much and too late, the crowd had had enough. It was between 12:30 and 1 a.m. by the time the game was over.

Not really, I guess Clay has won their share, let some other team start a run and maybe interest will pick back up. Clay fans are not the only ones saying the WYMT is fizzing out. Hey, maybe I'm just a homer. :p
