Gay characters at all time high on TV

Featured Replies

The acknowledgement and mainstream display of the homosexual lifestyle is glorifying it. So no my original post is not misleading.... Next...

Sure it is. Homosexuals existed long before TV. Acknowledging that there ARE homosexuals doesn't glorify it anymore than acknowledging that there are interracial marriages glorifies those.

So you acknowledge that homosexuality and interracial marriages are both glorified? But earlier didn't you say that homosexuality wasn't glorified?

No, she's pointing out that acknowledging something exists is not glorifying it, and it's a ridiculous leap to suggest that it is. Is watching a nature documentary about lions and tigers glorifying those animals?

What Jim said. Don't twist my words to make them mean what you want them to mean.

Didn't twist, just asked. Don't be so defensive. Sometimes your spin isn't clear to me.

That's because you expect there to BE spin. It's annoying.

Wow, you know what, I'll just avoid your posts. The circular crap is difficult to follow for me, I'm just too dumb I suppose.

I am about as straightforward as they come. If you're going in circles that's not my fault. As Jim pointed out, my words were exactly what they said.

Here's another thing I don't get about this "glorifying" angle some of you are working on:

It seems to me that in most mainstream TV shows depicting gay people, the agenda is little more than showing that gay people are just like anybody else, with the same problems as anyone else, and the same desires toward life, love and happiness. No different than what The Cosby Show did 25 years ago when it comes to black folks. My guess is there's at least a few people on this board who felt like the Cosby Show was "glorifying" black people by depicting them as normal, everyday folks, instead of keeping with the long-running stereotypes of domestic servants, gangstas, welfare queens and drug dealers.

The fact that every new show seems to have a homosexual character or that those character's are always portrayed as "life of the party types" is where I see homosexual's being glorified. TV shows now push acceptance of that lifestyle and that lifestyle IS becoming more accepted, even in my beloved Marine Corp which saddens me. Also to compare homosexual's to African Americans is incorrect, African Americans are/were created equal and live their lives by design. Homosexual's are broken and live a life of defiance. Defiant to gods law and the laws of human anatomy. Two men are not designed to mate, even animals for the most part know better.
