Royce White Holding Out - Waiting For Mental Health Plan

I'm not buying his mental illness hinders him from flying. Seems like an excuse. Has he rode buses his whole life from AAU tourney to AAU tourney? He rode buses in college basketball? People with mental illness and the resources to overcome it figure out a way to manage it. Trying to be bussed around the nation is not managing it. That's running from it and using it as an excuse.

You'll excuse me if I question your detailed knowledge of mental illnesses.:D

I'm not comfortable expressing my opinion as to HOW a person with a mental illness should be able to function. My B.S. in Marketing from NKU did not provide me with that training.

I've been around it more than I have wanted to and I guarantee the resources are there to help him get the help he needs to succeed as an NBA player. With a mental illness like his the most important thing is taking his meds routinely. If he was that bad off he wouldn't be allowed out of at least outpatient care on a regular basis. He can overcome it. If he wants to. LRCW doesn't have a mental illness to our knowledge and he has a real fear of flying. If LRCW truly wanted to overcome that fear he would be able to do so. If Royce White is seeing his therapist/psychiatrist regularly and taking his medicine properly then he should be able to overcome his fear of flying without his mental illness hindering him.

I don't have a fear of flying. I've flown numerous times. I am extremely claustrophobic. I don't know if I can overcome that.

Do you not ride in elevators? I've never known anyone claustrophobic.

I do, but if it were to get stuck on one for an extended period I'm sure I would freak out.

Gotcha. I have always wondered how that works.

I'd say it is impossible. Play in Houston Wednesday night and in LA on Friday and he's going to miss something. New York one night and Miami the next? He's missing something.

Not if Bandit Darville has anything to do with it.

Update: He will be allowed to bus to some games but will fly to others.

He said the main issue will be if the flight has to go through a storm.
