Monroe County (6-1) goes to South Warren (4-2)

 

Monroe has rushed for 1972 yds and given up 487. They have passed for 521 and given up 738. Total points-238/77

South warren has rushed for 1185 yds and given up 402. They have passed for 727 and given 420. Total points- 157/49

 

South is coming off a bi-week and Monroe is beat up pretty bad.

 

Who wins and why?

Monroe is banged up and will have to be at their best to beat South Warren. South Warren is without a doubt one of the most improved teams in the state but saying that feel Monroe will come out with the win.

I believe Monroe will win, but the health of our two beast will be a major factor. Chad Wilson is banged up as well as Jacob Hodges, those two need to be at least at 80% for Monroe to win.

The schedule is no doubt tilted in favor of SW, but I still say Monroe is just too physical, and the Spartans haven't experienced that from any opponent this season...

South played Warren East...you know, the team that beat Monroe this year. I'd say they're just fine in the "physical" play catagory.

 

Having played both...

 

Monroe has not faced a D-linemen anywhere close to #59 for South. South's D is excellent. If Hodges and Wilson are beat up and not at full go, Monroe will struggle to score against South..at all.

 

South has not faced a QB-FB dou anywhere close to Hodges and Wilson. If those two are good to go and clicking, I would give the edge to Monroe. Monroe is stout against the run and both of Monroe's OT's are some grown men.

 

All that said...should be a great game. Hope both are at full capacity for what should be an excellent game between two very good teams.

Really wish I could make this game. It will be telling, to me at least, as to how far these teams go in the playoffs. Both are great teams in 3A, should be a great game.

Both teams will struggle to go far by virtue of the region they play in. Fort Campbell and Paducah Tilghman are a tough duo to tangle with. If either made the region finals it would be a strong year and anything beyond a fantastic year.

 

As to the game, I made no secret a couple of weeks ago that I felt South Warren deserved a bit more respect from some on here. I'm going to go ahead and speculate that South Warren is going to back me up by winning this one. I hope to be able to gloat on Thursday rather than eat some crow for that.

I'm going with South Warren.

I am going with Monroe 36 South Warren 28. Wilson and Hodges will be ready to play ..........Also................ Monroe has other excellant young men who can make the big defensive plays such as Huff #21 , Bryant #39, DTs Glover , Williams, Nelson. London has been playing good secondary defense. It will not be easy for South Warren.
