pitino man Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Big win for North Laurel...I watched this game tonight Shenade Allen played an outstanding game for NL, Shawn Asher also had a big game....Congrats to North Laurel
Belfry Wins Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 This was the biggest blow out of the first round wasnt it? They did do a godo job of having good first round games. Congrats NL I think they will win it but hwo knows.
Jim Schue Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 How did Hicks play for Hazard? Hicks was killing North Laurel all game long, hitting four three-pointers and all eight of his FT attempts on the way to a game-high 24. But one of the keys to the game was when Conway had the Jags switch to a box-and-chaser in the final minutes with Nick Shannon guarding Hicks. Shannon did a great job, and it threw the whole Hazard offense into disarray. Shannon also grabbed four big rebounds and got a key steal that led to an Asher bucket, putting the Jags up for good at 53-51. Hazard had led by as many as 10 in the third quarter. It was probably the best North has played this year.

He is one of those youngs guys that Conway was needing to step up and he is starting to do just that. I really wish he would get back on the football field. I watched him in middle school and he was an amazing defensive back. Great nose for the football and made big plays. Justin Hicks is the key man for Hazard, no doubt. He makes their team go. Smart move by Conway to make this switch as Hicks is proving to be one of the top PG's in the mountains and will continue to get better in this his junior season. You could see him starting to come on last season as a sophomore and his progress continues. He will make some small college a very good PG. Too small at 5'11" to play at the bigtime level, but will be a steal for someone. He is a fearless player with great court vision and loads of upside.
uk96 Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Hazard seems to have some turmoil going on within the team. I wonder if they can work it out before tourney time?

Phelps defeated Knott by 1, Harlan defeated Paintsville by 1, Leslie defeated Besty Layne by 2, and North Laurel defeated Hazard by 4. This has the makings of being a very good tournament.
The Defender Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 North is still in my 13th region top three, and they have been all year. I can not believe they are not in the mountain top 10.
EagleMan4Life Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Good win for North can't wait to play you tomorrow.
mountainwarrior Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Sounds like this years WYMT is going to be a classic
The Riot Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 This was a big win for the Jags. Maybe this can pick them up and get them playing like they can play.
