August 30, 201214 yr Oh, I think your wrong there. Walt could no doubt overrule Dusty, but I bet he wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole. Cairo is on the roster will be 100% pick's choice. I mean as far as Hamilton call up in general. I'd say Dusty has most of the choices over playoff roster and I'm sure he would take Cairo. :irked:
August 30, 201214 yr Didn't Dusty say in an interview that September call-ups mean something entirely different when you are headed to the playoffs than when you're not? I don't know when or where I heard it, maybe someone can find it, but I believe there was a Hamilton question that spurned that response?
August 30, 201214 yr Hanigan will catch every game in the playoffs so I'd take Navarro simply because of his bat. I would not carry all 3. At most 4 starting pitchers will pitch so one of those will go to relief. Logan is probably out.

I agree Hanigan will catch all the games, but if you use Navarro as a PH, then you better pray Hanigan doesn't get injured late in the game. I think you almost have to carry 3, or you wasting a bat on the bench.
August 30, 201214 yr Ondrusek can still be on the playoff roster. Why in the world would you want Bill Bray on the playoff roster? Do you think the Reds will need somebody to come in, and walk the bases loaded? Unless the rules have changed, a player must be on the a)25 man active roster, b) the DL, c)the bereavement list, d) the suspended list as of August 31. Are you suggesting that he'll be called up before then? Walt was quoted as saying that he's coming up from Louisville on Saturday. I still like Bill Bray to get a single out against some tough lefties that may be in the playoffs; Harper, Gonzalez, Heyward, Alvarez, etc. I'm not saying he's Sandy Koufax, I said I rather have him than Cairo.
August 30, 201214 yr I see no value in Cairo for the playoffs. Frazier has shown his versatility, Heisey is a good PH. I would rather have Leake, Latos, and Arroyo batting for themselves or PH than Cairo. I realize that Dusty would see things differently, just IMHO.

As long as Ondrusek is on the 40 man roster, he can replace anyone that may go on the DL, and be on the playoff roster.

OK, with that as a possibility, I thought you were referring to him being selected due to merit or strategy. Unless one of the RH P's in the bullpen gets injured over the next 30 days, I would take Bray over Ondrusek.

August 30, 201214 yr The reds need to get rid of cairo and ondrusek. Call up billy hamilton dudes been on a tear and could be a clutch baserunner.
