August 25, 201214 yr Sounds like when he was confronted by police he removed his gun from a bag and they shot him. I think 2-3 people were caught in crossfire and the rest were hit by fragments. Thankfully the only one who died in that exchange was the gunman. I really don't know how more people were not injured considering how busy NYC streets can be. Sounds like the shooter intended to shoot one person and did. Luckily this maniac didn't start spraying the crowd. The officers did what was probably a necessity.
August 26, 201214 yr Glad the cops shot and killed the right guy. Feel bad for the others shot by the cops
August 26, 201214 yr Video of shooting between police and shooter on the sidewalk. Watch the guy in the suit with the breifcase on the left of the flowerpots, he was the shooter. The video shows a calm scene with people milling about on the street Friday morning. Then Jeffrey Johnson comes into view walking quickly down the street, followed by two police officers. Johnson stops, wheels around and points a gun at the officers. The officers begin firing at Johnson, and he quickly falls to the ground. The video shows nearly a dozen bystanders running for their lives, including a boy and a girl who were just feet away from Johnson.
August 26, 201214 yr Kinda poor tactics by the Officers but good end result. My guess is the ones who were hit by stray bullets were from the guy shooting one handed. I wonder why they ran up to him without their guns out?

I wonder why they ran up to him without their guns out? Good question considering he had just shot someone. Its easy to be the MMQB though.
August 27, 201214 yr Good question considering he had just shot someone. Its easy to be the MMQB though. Yup, but that's why they make us watch stuff like this and officers getting killed. To learn from it so officer/civilian deaths/injuries aren't in vain.
