Garrard County and Clay County open up the 2012 season on Friday night at Dyehouse Stadium in Lancaster in the Alumni Bowl. This year's game is a repeat of last season's opener, a game Garrard won 40-38 in four overtimes. That game seemed to be a springboard for the Lions, who went on to finish the season 12-2 while winning their first ever regional championship. It seemed to be a negative start for Clay County who struggled to a 1-10 season.

Garrard lost a ton of skill off last year's team but does return the entire offensive line, their quarterback, and fullback. The defense returns much of the front seven but will have to replace much of the secondary. Clay County has several players returning, including Kentucky commit Jacob Hyde, and will be playing for a new coach this time around. Should be a very fun game.

Garrard County repeats last year's win

I'll take Garrard County 21-13.

Garrards Qb returns. He will be the difference 24-6.

As long as his receivers catch the ball. The receiving corps is very young and inexperienced. They looked a little nervous during the scrimmage. It may take a couple weeks for them to really get rolling, but it sure is nice to have a four-year starter throwing the ball to them.

gchs - someone referred to this as a "Hall of Fame" game.

Is there a Garrard football Hall of Fame? If so, can you tell me who has been inducted? As you are aware, I might know some of them. :thumb:

I'd say you know plenty of them. Its been around for about 10 years. There is no hall of fame "museum" of sorts, but there is a plaque inside the field house and all inductees names are painted on the outside of the field house at the field. I'm at work now and can't get the info, but I'll try to post the names later this evening.

Thanks. I'll look for it tomorrow. Hope the Golden Lions have another special year.
