Billy Hamilton - On fire

Can we just bring him up already?

total season stats

.315 avg / .412 obp / .431 slugging 113 games 103 runs 20 2B, 13 3B, 3 HR, 41 RBI's, 73 BB's, and oh yeah I almost forgot 139 SB's ( crazy to even type that )

last 10 games at AA

.317/.440/.415 with 20 steals

I think the energy and excitement he will bring to the team and fans will be off the charts when they finally bring him up. Even just to pinch runner he could be a game changer late innings.

I like the idea of bringing him up when the rosters expand but he's not ready to hit at this level. He is only hitting .288 in AA so far in limited action.

His .410 OBP is very impressive though.

With his speed, if he's able to sustainably hit anywhere from .260 -.275 he'll be a nightmare for opposing teams whenever he is called up for good.

I think the plan will be to bring him up with the expanded rosters, give him a couple (1-2) spot starts in September and mainly use him as a pinch runner. If that goes well, I look for him to have a real shot next spring at making the club from the start.

I expect Walt to be busy over the winter. I'll be shocked if Stubbs is a Red next year.

Indeed it is but I doubt he sees that many walks vs MLB pitching.

I like that plan and it's a solid idea. I just don't want people to get ahead of themselves here. He has just over 20 games at the AA level.

Something along those same lines that my dad and I were talking about yesterday....If Cigrani and Corcino are as good as it sounds and people are making them out to be....Do the Reds shop Bailey this offseason?

He's not on the 40 man roster yet it he?

Oh and if he comes up would they lose control of him as far as contract a year earlier?

I'm not talking about dumping into the lineup...I would be shocked if he's not brought up when the rosters expand regardless if he's on the 40 man or not. His speed can win a game in the late innings.

He is not on the 40 man roster but that can easily be fixed.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I think we should watch out for Robert Stephensonin the future. The kid is having a pretty good year in the minors.

He got the record last night. 147 steals in 121 games. He has more steals than every MLB team. The Marlins lead MLB with 121.
