And that's all well and good, but if you're going to do what they did, you're opening yourself up to the criticism, and IMO there's nothing I'd consider undeserved. And I'm not saying I agree with his comments, I wouldn't say it, but I'm not going to judge him for criticizing those who are blatantly unpatriotic.

And the patriotism of those who believed "all men are created equal" applied only to white men? I question the heck out of their brand of patriotism and apparently so did John Carlos and Tommie Smith.

August 6, 201214 yr Who the hell said that? You said their act was unpatriotic. They lived in an America that wanted them to run fast then come home and be second class citizens. I'd say their act was profoundly patriotic as they wanted this country to live up to the ideals on which it was supposedly founded.

August 7, 201214 yr The news probably blames Serena for the US flag falling as they played the National Anthem too. Fell all the way to the ground... Actually, FOX blamed President's Obama's policies for sending jobs overseas and the substandard work by children in Singapore caused the flag to fall. MSNBC blamed the Republicans for not passing Democratic legislation that would have provided medical care for anyone hurt by the falling flag. No one knows who CNN blamed because no ones watches CNN anymore
