August 3, 201214 yr Which staff scares you the most as a Reds fan? Let's assume for argument sake that the Nats do NOT shelve the big boy for the season as they are claiming. I have to think it's them or the Dodgers (and I fully expect the Dodgers to still pick up a starter). The Giants scare me even moreso than the Nats. They've been there and done that with a championship.
August 3, 201214 yr This should probably be a whole different topic but I'll throw it in here. People really don't think Strasburg will pitch in the playoffs right?
August 3, 201214 yr No, no, no close games don't count. At least that is what I heard all year last year when the Bengals lost their close games against the better teams and won all the other types of games. It didn't matter that it was close against most of the good teams.. In all seriousness though I completely agree with you, and love any type of matchup the Reds will see this year if they end up making the playoffs. I think they very well can make a run at the whole thing this year.:thumb: Being that this was partially aimed at me I'll jump in. One run games especially when you blow the lead with your closer are different than losing by 1 TD which they did twice. The Gals also lost by 8 to Balt, 28 to Pitt, and 21 to Houston with their backup QB. Those aren't the same as 1 run losses in baseball except for that they have the same end result.

August 3, 201214 yr Listened to his GM tell a live TV audience last night that he would be shut down after he reaches his innings limit. I believe the GM. Me too. And I'm usually firmly in the go for it while you have a good chance camp which they obviously do. I just couldn't justify using him in 200+ innings as young as he is and as closely removed from surgery as he is.
August 3, 201214 yr Dodgers acquire Joe Blanton. You know that rotation isn't great when he's seen as an improvement to what they have.

The Gals also lost by 8 to Balt, 28 to Pitt, and 21 to Houston with their backup QB. Those aren't the same as 1 run losses in baseball except for that they have the same end result. How are they different? Especially when they are ten yards away from winning the game like in Baltimore? When a controveral touchdown catch taken away cost them. Or how about not getting the 4th and one against the Broncos at the end of the game. Or the fact that they are driving down the field in their last possession against the 49ers and Dalton threw an interception at the 20 yard line. Or the fact that Houston scores a touchdown with under a minute to go in the regular season to win the game. I believe even the first Steelers game if i remember correctly the Bengals were driving with 3 minutes to go, to get the lead when Dalton got picked off. I like how basically mentioned the only two games where they weren't close in the end in the 28 point lost to Pittsburgh, and 21 to Houston in the playoffs but conviently forget about the games I mentioned. Which were close games that they lost against top teams, which is what the topic was for the Reds here. Nice try as always though, especially love how you always conviently forget the other facts. However this is a Reds thread so I am done with this. We can move this to the Bengals thread if you want. I mentioned that as a joke because other people besides you had said that during the Bengals season. So I was joking how close losses shouldn't count for the Reds either. If you noticed I even agreed with him that it is a good sign that they had those close losses and they very well could change the results of that when the playoffs start. Which I think the Reds will make a run at in the playoffs!
