July 31, 201214 yr I would hate to lose Mesoraco (and have to go a man short) for 2 or 3 games but as a young pup, it sure is good to see him take up for his pitcher. Call it an "I have your back" moment. If I were pitching, I would sure appreciate him frothing at the mouth over the contracting and inconsistent strike zone. As he gets older he will no doubt develop the skill set to get the point across in a more subtle manner (like Hannigan did on Sunday) but the kid's heart is in the right place. I'll bet Meso didn't have to pay for any beers last night.

July 31, 201214 yr From John Fay's blog: Devin Mesoraco on the incident with home plate umpire Chad Fairchild that led to Mesoraco’s ejection: “First and foremost, the game wasn’t going the way we hoped,” Mesoraco said. “And I was a little frustrated. I disagreed with some calls throughout the game. You saw what happened next. “Obviously, frustration got the best of me and I lost my cool. I just disagreed with some calls. You want to stand up for your pitcher because they can’t do it out on the mound. That’s what came out. I’m not perfect by any means.” Did you touch him? “To be honest, the way that it happened . . . I was frustrated. At the end of day, I disagreed with calls. Whatever happened after that, I’m not exactly sure.” Are you worried about a suspension? “I don’t how it works with the Commissioner’s Office. Obviously, if you end up hurting the ballclub, that’s something you don’t want to do. We’ll see how it goes. Nothing I can do about it at this point.”
