Let me tell you what. I have absolutely no sympathy or understanding of your situation and not feeling you should report and pay your share of taxes on your lawn jobs. For 20 years I worked 2 jobs, and over that time, I also worked a 3rd job about a total of 10 of those years. I paid taxes for the income I made at every job. To be clear, this cost me dearly in qualifying for financial aid for my kids at Assumption and Trinity. The more I worked, the worse it got, as ar as qualifying for aid is concerned. But I never once thought of not reporting income. Never.

Question that arises for me....isn't avoiding paying taxes just as detrimental to this country as an illegal receiving benefits?

At least you want to see those loopholes closed. I hate the argument "well it's legal", as if it's the be all.

 

Not sure why you would be against someone doing something that is legal. I can see being against the written law but why be against people that follow it? I don't like the 55 mile hour speed limit on some of the two lane backroads of KY and I sure don't drive them that fast but it doesn't bother me that others do.

I realize it is legal. And from a theoretical standpoint I don't have an issue with it. But you know as well as I that tjere is a not-insignificant number of individuals and entities that have "worked the system" to their advantage that doesn't exactly fit the realms of "legal". To me, it's no different than those who "work the system" of social aid to their advantage.

I guess I should have paid taxes on the money I made on the weekends for years as a sportscard and memoribilia dealer and on Ebay also. :idunno:

 

I can't change what I did in the past. At the time, in all honesty, I never really thought about it. However this took place many years ago and I'm not losing any sleep over what I did 20-30 years ago, right, wrong, or indifferent.

 

If we had a "smaller" Gov't that didn't give away our tax dollars on "failed" programs and projects, we wouldn't have to concern ourselves with issue like this. JMO.
