Montgomery County 2012/2013

Featured Replies

Basketball season for 2012/2013 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Montgomery County ? Remember, please be constructive.

With the addition of PG Bryan Wallace from Shelby Co, I would rank Montgomery Co #1 in the 10th pre-season.

Looked up his stats for the last game against Collins. He had 20 points, but I was most impressed with his FT. 12 of 13. He will be a junior.

It will be interesting to see how the team adjusts to a new coach.

Yes it will. What style will will see from Montgomery Co this year?

Doesn't Mont Co return Jones also? 6'6" and athletic. This will be a great compliment to Prewitt. They should be fun to watch next year.

Montgomery County will be returning G Austin Crisp (Jr), F Omar Prewitt (Sr), F Darius Jones (Jr), and possibly C Tanner Combs (Sr) that had playing time on the varsity. Others that could contribute would be G Joe Chism (Soph), F-C Chase Hall (Soph), G Caswell Fuller (Fr), C Shelby Combs (Fr), F Matt Koiser (Jr), and G Mayson McGuire (Jr). There have also been rumors that some former players might come back out and try basketball. G Lance Lockridge (Sr.) would possibly be the fastest player on the team. F Uvea Moala (Jr) is an absolute bruiser under the basket and can handle the ball. And F Hobie Hall (Sr) can shoot the lights out if he is hot.

From what I've heard both Combs' (Tanner and Shelby) will be staying at Montgomery no matter where Coach Combs ends up

Montgomery sounds like they'll be loaded. Happy will also add some other players before the season begins .

Add players? You wouldn't suggest that a HS coach would recruit, would you?

Combs' brothers will be going wherever their dad goes....that came from the boss!

Unless something's changed in the past two days, I've talked to someone that's talked to them, that's high up in the montgomery county system and he said that they both were staying put. As far as where Gene is going, I still haven't heard nothing....I've heard Powell and Estill and Knott but Knott is out of the question because of the drive.

Well...someone high up in the Montgomery Co system has no idea what decisions is made within the Combs household and when I say boss I mean who runs the house! There are still alot of baseball jobs open and those boys are baseball players too. They will go where their dad coaches. It is simple math. What brought them to Montgomery County will be what makes them leave.

That happened to have came from someone who talks with Gene...I know there's some baseball jobs open but the Combs are staying at there home in Mount Sterling. The drive from Mount Sterling to Hindman (Knott County) is over 3 hours. 1 Way...Combs said that was out of the question. From everything I've heard he wants to go to the 14th region and coach. I seen him personally at the 14th Region Baseball Tournament at wolfe county. There's a lot of talk that Varney is stepping down at Powell and Combs would take over that program but there was talk around the 54 district tournament that Combs would be named the new head coach at estill county before long. I don't think that would happen this year after the run estill had.
