I don't like Rome's show at all and quit listening years ago but I think the commish looks poorly here. It was a stupid question to ask because Rome knew what the answer was going to be. With the NBA selling the Hornets to Tom Benson rumors ran rampant immediately after the lottery that one of the selling points of the Hornets was that they would receive the #1 pick in the draft. Likely? I doubt it. Talked about? Absolutely. Worth asking Stern if you have him on your show for ratings? No question. It's not like people didn't think the fix was in when the Knicks got Ewing and when Cleveland got Lebron.

June 13, 201214 yr NBA fans seriously contemplate things like this and it's got to be a big image problem for the league. Now, that question was phrased badly and was designed to get under Stern's skin rather than draw out any genuine discussion, but that doesn't mean it's not worth bringing up.

June 13, 201214 yr That was good stuff. Rome handled himself pretty well. I'm not a Rome guy either but I thought he did well to continue to treat Stern with respect even though Stern began to take shots at him.

If Stern simply said "no" Rome was going to keep pursuing it saying what you guys are saying. Essentially Rome is saying "prove it wasn't fixed because many blowhards are talking about it." Illegit question. There is no acceptable response to Rome and his listeners.
