Throwing the Ball 300 Feet

Clyde....Pull up Alan Jaeger on Youtube and you will see guys throwing from endzone to endzone with ease. It's a certain longtoss program he developed. My friend that used to coach at Cooper showed this to me. Colleges and even MLB teams are going to his program.

I think I know the former coach you are talking about and he was telling me about this program a couple weeks ago. I want my son to do that program of long tosses this year with the 2 players currently working that now on the team. My son is the catcher and I think it would really benefit him and his pop time. I believe as a catcher and pitcher the long toss may be one of the most beneficial practices to do before a game. If done properly it will not only increase your velocity but also your accuracy.

They've been doing something like this at CCH forever. We did it back in the eighties. Would start about 25 yards apart and gradually go out as much as 100 by our jr/sr year. There's a decent chance the former coach at Cooper was a Krumps player. I know of at least two who used to coach there that played for him.

It's a great way to strengthen your arm. I saw a video a few years back where Roger Clemens said that he started long tossing after he enrolled at Texas and it was the most important drill he did throughout his career.

It's a very interesting throwing program that we've used for 3 years...we've adapted it for football. One of the other keys to this program is the exercises that are done before throwing ie... the use of tubes, bands, etc... The idea is that you warm up to throw vs throwing to warm up. Once warmed up, you begin the long toss program.

The best 300+ throw ever recorded has to be Bo Jackson picking up a ball in the left field corner of the old Seattle Kingdom and nailing a very fast Harold Reynolds on a bang-bang play at the plate with a throw that went from the left field wall to the catcher's glove ON THE FLY!! Without a crow hop - picked it up, one step, and BOOM. Reynolds out at the plate. It has to be on video somewhere on the net.

A friend of mine has a son who just graduated and will play D1 ball in California next season. I saw a video of the kid throwing the ball 300 feet in the air.

That's unusual, right?

You can throw a softball 275 on a line? I'm skeptical.

That was awesome. I saw that on 30 for 30 the other week. I loved how Reynolds affterwards asked who the relay man was on that throw and they said there wasn't a cut off man and he couldn't believe it. Speaking of bo, I think one of my favorite hitss from him all time was his very first MLB at bat when he hit one over the foul polle and the umps called it foul and so he took the next pitch and grounded it to the sseccond baseman and beat out the throw to first by 2 full steps. That was incredible.

I have seen a kid from Harrison throw 300 ft. In front of scouts after pitching a complete game.

That 30 for 30 was on ESPNU last night. Impressive!

I can believe this, back in my playing days I could do this without a problem.
