Junior all-star Team Announced

Featured Replies

I thought Emily Fox would make this cut, but looks like a very good team. I think #1-5 are on the same AAU team, so should be good chemistry.

Congrats to all these fine ladies!! A special Congrats to Billie Hearn from Grant County. A great honor for a Great young lady.

Congrats to Billie and the others.

Ummmmmmm....... Congrats to all the Ladies that where chosen for the final team..........BUT how in the world did Emily Fox not make the cut???.....I know that this was based on tryouts, but how did a player that had the following stats in leading her team to semi-finals of state tournry NOT make the team?? For three games in state Emily had following stats,,,,,,,,,57 pts- 10 rebs-16 assts-8 steals.

Rather surprised that Highlands player and Xavier signee Leah Schaffer didn't make this team. Excellent player.

I am also surpirsed that Fox and Schaffer did not make the junior team as well. Tough when good players get left off- hard to get a group that everyone would agree on but each coach sees things differently. They should not hang their heads- they are both outstanding players.

Not sure how a D1 signee did not make this team. I guess she just didn't impress the selection committee. Coaches have different perceptions of players.

Its pretty obvious that politics was working with a few of these players. I agree Fox should have made it.

Remember that they didn't pick the 12 best. They have to form a team. You need guards, you needs bigs, you need a shooter, etc.

Without commenting on kids that maybe had a chance but didn't make it it could just come down to what the team needed.

You cannot win being an all-star coach because inevitably someone, as we've seen in this thread, is going to throw out the "politics" line.

And....big ups to Olivia Voskuhl for getting the chance to play in this game.

Clyde, your comments made me think of some of the criticisms I heard regarding the make-up of this year's senior all-star squad. Obviously, the team did have a good and solid unit that played as a team and swept the Hoosiers. The "politics" word was thrown around prior to the games but has not appeared or been heard much since the results were positive. Somebody is ALWAYS going to be left off the team that some folks think are deserving - it's simply the nature of the beast.
