Texas father kills man trying to sexually assault daughter

^Absolutely.

It's disgusting that people even begin to defend those actions. Extremely disappointing that we have posters on here who are.

Let's make greed a mental disorder while we're at it. Or how about murder? Maybe some people are just wired to have the need to see the life sucked out of another human. :idunno: How about arson? Let's classify pyromania as a mental disease too. Hell, while we're at it, let's just create a "mental disorder" to rationalize any and all crimes that could ever ben imagined to be committed. No one is ever just evil, are they? Always has to be a "medical" reason for things.

There are others who think it is NOT a disorder.

Some claim it's a sexual orientation like homosexuality. My brain says that doesn't make sense but , admittedly, I have no medical training.

That makes more sense than saying it's a mental illness. That is the epitomy of stupidity and ignorance.

No one is defending any actions. For you to make that claim tells me you're either an imbecile or you are trying to divert attention away from theories that do not agree with yours.

Are you saying that Harvard Medical defends the actions of a pedophile?

So are you mad at professionals who make these distinctions? Are you saying you're more qualified than they are? How much time did your accounting professors spend on mental disorders?

I'm saying anyone who tries to claim that pedophilia is a mental illness, which whether you want to admit it or not IS defending their actions, is incapable of logical thought IMO.

Again, your medical training consisted of what again?

You do realize there is a difference between "defending" and "explaining," right?

So you agree we should just make up mental disorders for any and all crimes, because at the end of the day if you really did enough, detailed in-depth research, I'm sure we could find common links between all people who commit crimes. Maybe we should just simplify the process and create one giant mental illness, "Criminal Personality Disorder", (I like the sound of that) and lump all criminals into one broad category.

Saying someone has a mental disorder that causes them to rape children is rationalizing (making excuses) for the action. It's not their fault, it's that blasted "disease".

So I will assume that your answer to the amount of time you have studied mental disorders is ZIPPO.

What mental disorders do you believer are valid, Dr Welby?

If the sole purpose of a "mental illness" is to defend criminal behavior, basic common sense and logic tells you it's not a true disease.

Your inabilty to stay on point is disappointing. No one on here has EVER claimed the the "sole purpose of a mental illness is to defend criminal behavior."

^That's exactly what the purpose of classifying pedophilia as a mental disease is.

Clyde, since you obviously believe Pedophilia is a mental disease, am I correct in thinking you feel Jerry Sandusky should not go to prison, but rather to a pyschiatric hospital so he can get the necessary treatment?

There's only one logical way to interpret the statement. You're just choosing to ignore it.

I don't feel the statement can be "interpreted" besides "needs more info"...
