Mike Walls, Silver Grove Coach Resigns

Featured Replies

Not sure what happened but the Silver Grove players received a very heart felt text from Caoch Walls tonight as he has resigned as boys basketball coach. Obviously something happened to cause this abrupt resignation. I will say he was a very hard worker who put players first. Although a young coach, over the past two seasons you could start to see him make discipline inroads and become a better X and O coach.

Not sure what happened but I think this is really a blow to the program which has some young talent that just needs very strong direction; which in my humble opinion Coach Walls was getting a real handle on. He even coached the freshman team this season to make sure they understood what he wanted players to do as varsity players.

Although he and I (well not really me but someone close to me (ha ha) butted heads on occasion, that person by the end of this season was even coming around and seeing that he indeed was a positive influence on the kids on and off the court.

I felt that Coach Walls did a great job at a small school like Silver Grove and they were heading into the right direction. Sad to hear about this for the kids down in the Grove.

I have the upmost respect for Coach Walls and feel that he was doing a tremendous job at Silver Grove with what he had to do it with under extremely challenging circumstances.

Last year's freshmen group were bona fide good, and will give the Trains something to build on if they can keep it together. It is tragic and a major setback to loose a guy willing to work with and believe in these kids. I feel really bad for the entire Silver Grove program tonight.

Walls is what a small school like silver grove needs. What a shame. Good luck finding a guy that loves kids and works that hard for them. Geez, I hope is was not because he played too many games?

Pretty much sums it up. He had kids working in the summer lifting and had several playing AAU basketball all spring.

How many coaches is thet now for the Grove the past ten years? 5-6? I think with a school so small you need to keep a coach around that the kids get to know and are comfortable with to help keep the #s up on the team.

That guy is a head case

Wow. Please explain.

The appearance you are giving is you just have an ax to grind against Coach Walls and have no basis for this comment. Please elaborate...

What are they doing for summer ball or are they playing summer ball?
