Upcoming Team Camps in NKy

Were the teams playing Withrow and Glen Este down players last night? They aren't top teams in the Cincinnati area....

I'm not sure the answer to your question, but I do know its very tough to judge the summer leagues. Different styles of playing time, some teams bring 15 kids and play them all and others only bring their top 8. Some split squads right down the middle and have different teams show up at different games, etc. I know Highlands beat Glen Este fairly easy. 15-20 most of the game. But I think Glen Este beat Conner last night, who I know will be pretty Competitive over here. Highlands then lost to McNick who Glen Este beat. McNick had their top 8 players and Highlands played up to 12 in that game equally. Just tough to judge.

Yeah, I agree, tough to judge. When I was reading some of that I was sort of dumbfounded. I know Ohio teams much more than I do NKY teams. But I know some of the top NKY teams. Hearing Conner losing was sort of a surprise. But again, which kids were playing and so forth makes the score really mean nothing....but it good for the kids that get experience. That is the great thing about summer ball, kids getting playing time. Doesn't matter if they are #1 or #9 on the bench, playing in a game situation is great for them!

Conner did not play Glen Este last night they played Badin and McNick and won both games. The only team they lost to was Withrow Monday night

Just asking because I am not very familiar with the Ohio teams. Who are the top teams in the Cincinnati area. I know Mt. Notre Dame is usually a power. Who are the other top Cincy teams.

Not sure how you could speak for the upcoming year? From what I saw Winthrow was very athletic but did lack some skill. Glen Estes shot lights out and if they play and shoot like the did the other night if they are not one of the top teams then they may make some noise this year. Win throw last year finished 9th in the final Enquirer poll and had a record of 19/4.

The top teams are Princeton, sycamore, mcauley, mason, Winton woods for D I. Withrow had an inflated record last year because they are a decent Cincinnati public school whipping up on bad teams. They did nothing come state tournament time. Plus their. Plus their big name coach just resigned. I am not saying they suck, but they aren't a top team....

Lost by 3 to Mason, won a Christmas Tourny in Detroit. I assume you have been around the game a long time and know any team to win 19 games has to have some luck and are pretty good. The team I watched this week was again very athletic and may have been one of the Top three teams at this camp. I also agree you can't read into summer basketball but for the sake of this discussion, Winthrow beat Conner and then Conner beats McCauley by 10. Some food for thought!

Do you know who they play? I thought they played sloppy well against McCualey,

PG did some nice things running that team, it looks like Conner will not be as athletic at the point but seems to have a player #4 that knows how to run a team. They also have a very good combination at the 2 and 3, great shooters and two very aggressive big's. This team can be very good and I think The Scott girl can be one of the top 3 players in the region. They also have I believe two freshman that are very good as well! Conner is an up and coming girls program in my opinion.

All I was saying is that the 19-4 record is inflated. Wins of: 78-13, 75-25, 59-23, 68-10, 51-35, 67-48, 68-10, 51-34, 63-12, 71-16, 60-15, 59-23, 73-32, 67-30. Pretty lopsided games beating up on teams that weren't very good. They were one of the better teams last year, can't deny that. I haven't seen them play this summer. I heard they were losing some kids to transfers, and again, they had a big name coach leave. The word is he was leaving because everyone else was leaving also. Maybe he left, they stayed. Maybe they are better than I gave them credit for, and if they are, my bad. Summer ball is hard to judge. It's kind of like NFL preseason, some teams go 4-0 or 3-1 in the preseason and don't even reach .500 regular season, and then some of the studs win one or two preseason games and go far.....this time of year is for game time experience for players of all different ranges and skills....

Gallatin has played fairly well at this point. Some of their opponents have not been real strong, but have had solid wins/showings against Glen Este, Conner, and Oak Hills. They have a legit shot at being in the mix for the 8th Region crown, I think.

Again summer is tough to judge. Highlands just beat McCauley without HHS top three players (out with injuries). McCauley looked impressive but highlands was able to hang with them and pull off the victory. Really like the way McCauley plays! Fun to watch.
