I think they have a say but if they had all of the say they would have Pitt in instead of some other lower-tier team. Who wants to watch Providence? The Big East and SEC have a lot of say in this.

The better Big East team do not want to draw the bottom of the SEC and drag down their RPI in what is supposed to be a showcase event. With 10 or so BEast team battling for a tournament spot and usually only half of the SEC being quality it is an issue...
