This may be a crazy question but does his son play for the middle school as most players in this area do or does he play at the high school? I can't remember too many 8th graders playing up. However with the talent being split up getting players to field teams is going to be tough!

 

His son played a couple games for the 7th grade team i am pretty sure in November then moved on to play freshman and JV and dressed varsity from the start of the high school teams year. By the end of the year he was varsity only. This is the sole reason he is in Kentucky (his son able to play high school as a 7th grader unlike in Illinois). I do not believe he bought a house here and i know at least one of his assistants he brought from Illinois lived with him. His son is a pretty good talent. 6'2 and a shooter. Needs to work on quickness, creating own shot, etc. He isn't afraid to put it up. He is a good kid. I am not sure of the talent level at the new high school he is moving to but unless it is unreal, his son will play and play alot early at the varsity level. That is what it is all about.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I've heard that there is a rule on the books for the Nelson County School System that forbids middle school players from playing up while their middle school season is going on. If this rule is on the books, I wonder if this is a subject that was broached in TNHS' meetings with Youngman?

 

Also, if this is a rule on the books, it seems like one the NC Board is going to have to reconsider in light of the split and the potential lack of available athletes to fill out rosters.

I don't recall anyone else mentioning this when he was hired besides myself. Perhaps my recall isn't what it was.

Most everyone knew he was gone when he made comments in the paper that were basically critical of the administrion. After Greenup won the 63rd district he made a comment along the lines of "this is what happens when you let someone do their job". Not an exact quote but the writing was on the wall at that point.

Well if that is his thoughts he probably didn't do his homework on the Nelson County district. This district is poorly ran, this district is ran as a dictatorship and he will be working for a principal who is young and been very difficult to work with. Then you get to the super and that is even a more difficult situation.

 

Back to the middle school versus high school. The last middle schooler I can remember playing was Samantha Drake on the girls side. The difference is the girls middle school season was over before the varsity season began. With the boys that won't be the case curious to see how this one is handled.

Bragging about winning the 63rd last year was hardly a good nail to hang his hat on. I saw Greenup play seven times last year and I have to say they can do better. Best of luck to this coach in his new position though.
