Some coach from Colorado. He was on Garry Barnett's staff at Colorado as the WR + RB coach I think for several years. He later coached at a High School there for three years were they won their confrence every year I think they said. His wife is from Mt Sterling and he always promised that he would try to get her back home before they retired is what they said on the news. Sounds like he is pretty qualified. The right person could do some big things at Bryan Station especially with the new school set to open.

Dr. Oliver Lucas of Montbello High in Denver, CO. Coached for the Colorado Buffaloes on Bill McCartney's staff when the won a national championship in the 1990's. Has had top notch Division I players the last few years. Players signing at Texas and Michigan.

How did the Bryan Station job get on this qualified coach's radar?

Sounds like a good resume, but is he ready to bring them to "dynasty" status. Quite the expectation statement on the job posting from a school that is 7-43 over the past 5 years and has not seen the bright side of 3 wins since 2000. Sounds like the administration has some interesting ideas about where their program should be.

The "potential" is there. It is a sleeping giant for the right person. Good coaches can teach football, but can't teach speed. We all know there is already plenty of it at Bryan Station.

His wife is from Kentucky and was notified of the job by a relative.

This sounds like an excellent hire for Bryan Station. I found this while looking for info on Coach Lucas:

Montbello High School coach Oliver Lucas established a reputation as one of Bill McCartney's top recruiters 20 years ago. He brought the likes of Eric Bieniemy and Darian Hagan to Boulder.

Lucas recalled bringing some Los Angeles and Houston recruits in with the weather as frigid as this week's.

"I had to convince them the weather was not that cold," Lucas said. "I was walking around in nothing but a shirt. I was freezing to death, but after a while, they said it wasn't that cold."

Sounds like an outstanding hire for them! They have A TON of potential walking the halls there if somebody can deal with them and teach them discipline.

Colorado had some serious talent back in the early '90's. Will he be able to recruit the halls of B.S. as well as the Compton area.

One would think so. In general terms no matter how tough the situation is at Bryan Station it cannot be as tough as some of the gang infested areas Coach Lucas has recruited from.
