Felt like the murder was of an accidental nature, in that a scuffle ensued and escalated. -- Just after, the NBC legal people were saying that goes directly in the opposite direction of a Murder II charge. Doubt that has any bearing, just thought it was interesting hearing that come from her.

 

- And that if Zimmerman is remorseful, he should apologize. Martin's mom suggested that Zimmerman, who claims he killed Martin in self-defense, should apologize if he is remorseful. “One of the things that I still believe in: A person should apologize when they really -- when they are actually remorseful for what they've done,” Fulton said.

The insinuation was until a conviction charge was levied will justice not be served. Is that really the case, or has the arrest of Zimmerman completed the "justice" angle since he and indirectly Martin will have their day in court?

I think that the parents want a full investigation to ensue. I feel that was also. If a full investigation reveals that Zimmerman is guilty of no wrongdoing, I have no problem with that. I think that the reactionaries (on either side) will be reactionary regardless.

I'm sure there will be some (and I think there are some who are up in arms that Zimmerman has been charged, if my facebook newsfeed is any indication). For myself (and I think a lot of others) I think we wanted to see a full and serious inquiry into what happened. I think with charges being brought that has happened. There seemed to be loose ends and unanswered questions that made a lot of us think that Zimmerman was simply being given the benefit of the doubt.

 

At this point, and unless some sort of glaring issue presents itself going forward, this is the best we can ask for in a terribly unfortunate situation. I'm not out to get George Zimmerman, nor do I think seeing him punished is the definition of justice, but I do want to see the state take seriously the shooting death of a teenager. I don't think that was entirely the case until this became a national story. Frankly, there are probably hundreds of other cases that have followed similar trajectory that haven't gotten this level of exposure (and I'm certain there are hundreds of cases where the issue is overzealous prosecutors racking up unjustifiable charges on suspects). But, if people's feet get held to the fire in one case, it's better than zero cases.

Um yea. There is no such thing as an accidental death of an unarmed minor at the hands of an adult. Mom is probably getting told to say such, to keep the flames down.

On Nancy Grace she clarified her comments. Considering the charges that does not shock me. Seems to me a comment like that could come back and help Zimmerman if he ever asked for a manslaughter charge? Some of our legal minds will have to help with that one.

Literally, yes it is. Legally, no way because morally it is unacceptable. Trust me, I've dealt with many prosecutors in a past life. I know their stances on homicide. Crime on crime, it is what it is. If they get a credible witness, they pursue it. If not they don't try aggressively. Young women, the elderly, children, well doers get top priority. Especially, if the alleged perp has any type of alcohol, drugs or violence charges at anytime in his/her past.

Of course they do, the media and especially social media has sped the public opinion aspect of a trial exponentially. Often times in cases such as this one the accused is considered guilty by the public before the story is even done growing in popularity. I wonder how much "damage control" is considered during these cases, one side tends to act in a more violent manner than others, either way like you said the out come will have a large reaction from the public.

Especially not in a case of this magnitude. The kind of case a prosecutor has both dreams and nightmares about.
