I'm willing to bet he was forced to make this move. I can't believe he made the comments in the 1st place. So he's apologizing for making the comments, but he obviously still has admiration for Castro, or he wouldn't have made the comments in the 1st place. I'm sure Tony Perez really appreciated the comments.

Guillen is an idiot.

Is that supposed to change anyone's mind? He's not sorry for saying he loves Castro. He obviously still loves Castro. He's just sorry he hurt people's feelings. The Marlins should fire him. He's an idiot.

I think that's a bit much but he is still a fool.

Why is it a bit much? The Marlins have struggled with attendance for years. The have a brand new stadium, where they hope they can greatly increase their attendance, and then their manager comes out and makes such an idiotic statement that upsets a huge part of their fan base.

They win...it will be forgotten in a week.

I think you're seriously underestimating the hatred so many Cuban Americans have for Castro.

I think I realize how much winning makes people forget things.

Ozzie is a likeable guy. He is flying back to apologize. I'm sure there will be some who don't forgive him but just like anything there will be some who never forgive. Winning will make it go away. We have short attention spans...

So if you're a Cuban American, and you fled Cuba, where your parents, or other family members still live, and were oppressed, or even worse by Castro, just winning baseball games are going to make you forget all about Guillen's comments, and appreciation for the brutal dictator?

I understand how many Cuban Americans feel about Castro. Didn't need you to spell it out.

He flies back and makes a sincere apology tomorrow which I believe he is doing. He starts winning games and yes, this will be forgotten about. As I said, some won't forgive but most will...

From what I've read he's only apologizing that he upset them, or hurt their feelings. He's not sorry for believing what he believes.

Nor should he. No one should ever apologize for their beliefs.

I agree, he stepped in it by making these comments, but I wouldn't fire him over it. He'll take care of that on his own. Winning games is not going to happen as frequently as Marlins fans are expecting IMO.
