Those were important points to know. Perhaps it is posts in other threads, but you seem to be painting yourself into a pretty selfish portrait. The police take too long, the weather warning sirens go off too much...what's next? I could care less what you or anyone else on this site thinks about me. I'll listen to the opinions of people who actually know me and are around me everyday... Like I said I was just trying to make conversation. I didn't say one negative thing about police in this thread. Sorry that I don't check every thread that I post in every hour of every day. I forgot I even posted this thread until I saw it at the very top this evening.

March 19, 201214 yr Calls are prioritized. A disturbance will likely get a priority 1 ranking. If someone calls to report an accident that occurred on a parking lot, they will be asked if there are any injuries. If there aren't any, and it's not interfering with traffic flow, it's not an emergency. Dispatchers are the ones who dictate where and when police go somewhere. Unless the dispatcher tells the officers, they may not even know a call is holding. This very true.

I was overseas and watched a child shoot one of my brothers in arms, so I feel the same way as you do. I know I appreciate what you do for your community. Three proffesions that don't get enough respect in my eyes are#1 Law Enforcement, and the distant 2 and 3 are doctors and military because some people only want to see the bad. I'm guilty of that as well with doctors. I appreciate what you, and all my other officer BGPers do! If you were to have say, a car theft and a house B&E come through at the same time, which would be prioritized as more important?
March 19, 201214 yr I'm guessing the B&E if both are unsure when were occurred. It's hard to say why it took so long on the B&E. If it's rural, then it could be no one on duty. I know where I grew up there, were no county deputies out from 3am-6am a lot of days. You may very well have to wait on a trooper to come from the next county. Heck even in a bigger sized county with a decent size Sheriff's Dept., they may have just 2-3 deputies out on a week night. A lot of time, the man power, given the time of day and day of the week can dictate response time. You take a week night, where say 6-7 city cops are working in a city of 25 or 30k people, and 3 deputies are out in the county. If something hits the fan, such as a barricaded subject with guns (which happens more than people think), happens in the county, the deputies will have to call the city dept for help. That might leave 3-4 cops in that whole city available. At a time like that, only "priority" calls are dealt with immediately. Obviously SWAT teams get called in, but that can take a while to get them to the scene geared up with equipment, and a game plan. The job can be unpredictable at times. For anyone to say that they were made to wait for 30 minutes for an accident in parking lot, and the cops didn't know if there were injuries is just making stupid statements. No dispatcher takes a wreck call and doesn't ask if anyone is injured :lol:. The busiest time for most departments is the 1pm-10pm times. You have a minor fender bender in a parking lot during rush hour time with no injuries, you're probably going to have to wait for some units to get freed up. Most parking lot accidents don't get actual crash reports because it's private property.
March 19, 201214 yr ^That makes sense on the B&E. I completely agree with everything you said. Most people don't think about the what ifs if they are in a minor accident. I've been there, and all I could think about was how much is this going to cost me. I think if people sat back and thought about their situation, compared to the others that could be causing the slow response, people wouldnt get as upset over all of this as they were. I mean, people have to realize that a minor accident in a Kroger parking lot is not only a minor accident, which is already towards the bottom of the priority list, but it is also off of public roads, so its not causing any traffic problems so that drops it even further down the priority totem pole. I am actually kind of surprised they got to the accident within 30 minutes quite frankly.
