Merl Kidwell wanted it the last time it came open....would he get it this time?
I have heard his name a couple of times from different people along with some others that have been passed over from down the road on Route 23.
-
Oh, he's been around BGP for awhile. Lurking from the outside with prying eyes!! He doesn't post much but I'm sure he wanted to share his experiences with Mike. Mike, Turk, and I have called many many games with Mike. I cannot say enough about Mike as a person. He was a loyal, compassionate, and genuine friend who I will miss a great deal. It will be weird walking onto the field, diamond, or court knowing that he is no longer with us.
I agree 100% he will be misssed.
-
Lets hope they get someone outside of the program. I heard a few names and one is a former coach from Russell.
-
Welcome to BGP TURK29.

Great post RAM you are right about him he was a a good person and will be missed greatly thur out the sports community especially in the Raceland program where he was a big part. He was a big part in me getting started in officiating along with a few others. I know I will miss him. I wish his family the best and prayers goes out to them.

Who would that be? Scott Walter has already told Dave Thompson he's not interested despite all the begging Thompson was doing.
I am talking about Mark Watkins all the girls like him for what I have been told and he does know the game.
-
Congrats to Russell.
-
Maybe a former asst. coach I think he would take it if offered.
-
Congrats to East Carter and to the Johnson kid he was on fire. East played a great game the first quarter did the Rams in. I would like to thank all the seniors on a fine season and best wishes. Good luck East Carter the rest of the way.
-
I like the way East Carter plays they play physical and they give alot of teams troule with the size they have and Raceland has more team speed and it makes it a good game and Raceland can bang with them also with the bench they have. I am going with Raceland in a close game and I think it will be the best game of the first round.

This had to be one of the ugliest games I had seen this year from Raceland. They could not buy a basket missed at least 10 baskets under the rim and they did not hit free throws like they do in most of the games they played this year. Like it has been said in the posts before this one survive and move on now they have a big test coming up against Ashland they must play better. GO LADY RAMS........

If I am not mistaken they have something about each team different days of the week it starts around the middle of March I think.
-
Good win for the boys team. One of the best games that I have seen them play this year.
-
Good win for the Lady Rams. The future looks bright for them also,as stated this team is kind of young, but there is still alot of basketball to be played so lets get ready for the 16th region in Morehead
-
Raceland Has Ironton on the Scheduale for the 09 season, so I've been told from a very good resorce that knows what hes talking about.
-
Who are some of the softball players to look out for this coming season, and what teams.
-
Is there any teams going south to play. I believe Raceland is going to Florida to play and get way from the weather to get some games in.
-
I do agree with the USSSA and Cal Ripken is what most teams are playing and you can find alot of teams to play, and tournaments also.
-
Lewis County will throw the zone defense at Raceland and the guards are going to have to step up and hit the outside shot and I do think the inside play of Sparks and Keeton will be a big part with the size they have. It is to bad the best two teams in the district has to play each other in the first game wish it was seeded then the 63rd might have had a good showing in the region as well. Go RAMS.

I have coached Babe Ruth for the past couple of years and I have noticed that the high summer teams are taking most of the kids from Babe Ruth and they are playing for the traveling teams as well. I do understand the point that the high school teams have taking all the kids 13-15 years old but there are a few of the kids that dont play alot and why dont they let them play Babe Ruth to get playing time sittting on the bench does not help the kids.
-
I would like to see a upgrade on the field and pressbox along with a few other things.
-
How many boys games did she call?
I know she had Raceland a couple of times and seems like she was the best one out there as far as being consistant on her calls.

I would agree that Darby and Morris have been the cog of Raceland Youth Baseball. Even with their help the Raceland Youth Program has dwindled, and that is because of the non-involvement of the HS Program.
I really couldnt tell you too many HS coaches that care about the youth programs. I have had kids involvement in 3 different youth baseball programs and they were Boyd, Raceland and Greysbranch. Boyd County cared a little bit. Greg Logan at Greysbranch was highly involved in all the teams in Greenup and Raceland has just a couple of people that even cared. A lot of the Coaches these days are more concerned about making money on the side for Private Training, then they are about the youth talent coming up.
BTW, I think Darby should be on the HS Staff. He is an excellent Pitching Coach.:thumb:
I think that they have a pretty good pitching coach right now in Drew Hall. I do agree that Randy Morris and Steve Darby would help out with the team if asked and if they are needed I do think they are under staffed in baseball and there is alot of help need from the parents and I am parent and I am going to try and step up and do alot more for them this year.
Lawrence Co. vs Greenup Co.

L.C. won the game 5-2 Greenup made errors in the 6th inning that turned the game in L.C. favor. Tyler Hieneman was throwing a good game until he was taken out I was told he was on pitch count I do not know if it was due to the weather or something else he was throwing pretty good from what I seen also the pitcher from L.C. was throwing good also I think his name was Shepherd.
