  1. Great thread - more than just x's and o's and wins and losses. A great coach teaches life skills through this great game of basketball. Work ethic, citizenship, responsibility, respect....tell me one thing that you can't teach your players about life if you are truly a great coach?? Sorry for getting philosophical.
  2. 1-3-1? That is how you stayed within 20. If they played man, could've beaten you worse. Russell had 3 seniors, 1 junior, 1 soph, and 1 frosh who played for the Devils The experience of the big 3 alone was more than all of Russell's team put together. You put Terry and Queen on any team in the region and they are a legitimate 16th region contender this past year!!!
  3. Also, "Russellites" do not oppose Rose Hill because of the Faulkners. Some of us don't even oppose the Faulkners personally. However, some of their actions in the past, both at Russell and Rose Hill , haven't been what I would call admirable or desirable. The same actions have unfortunately ended some friendships along the way, as well as split up what some thought could have very well been a 3-peat regional champion. That is completely a different story. I can assure you that the ones who you say are "close to the program" do know what you are saying. But I can also assure you that not one player, coach, or parent would have traded the last three years of losing in the region for one trip to Bowling Green if it meant having to deal with some of the issues that came along with the talented package. That being said, no problems here with Rose Hill or their players. I for one found myself cheering for Rose Hill (and Britt) as they competed in the state tournament, as I almost always do for the 16th region representative.
  4. For bluethunder: You obviously know nothing about the 16th Region. Russell was the preseason favorite and even more of a favorite at tournament time. If you do your homework, you will learn that Russell had two players near the equal of Terry and Queen as well as a far more experienced supporting cast. Being informed never hurts. 1 - Bluethunder made some very valid points. Russell was preseason fav, but who said they were favored to win the region? ADI's Rick Greene had them getting beat by Rowan in the opening round. Russell with a more experienced supporting cast??? Britt's been playing varsity bball since she was in 8th grade. Yes, RH started an 8th grader, but they could've started a 4th grader with the talent and experience of those 3 alone. As far as masterful coaching??? Please - I'm sure you've seen RH play. What do they run, at any point in any game, that involves masterful coaching? Gameplan for RH: Sit back in a 2-3 zone to conserve energy, and give the ball to Queen and Terry and get out of the way, and on occasion let Britt drive and shoot or dish. Not so masterful, but with two D1 players, sometimes less is more.
  5. Wouldn't it be great for once of everyone just said job well done, and move on! Euton, Trimble, Kidwell, Bradley...all deserved coach of the year. To say that any of them deserved it over the other would be impossible to prove. It's all about opinions, and the ones that counted voted for Kidwell. Perhaps Scooter and Intentional could come up with a formula as to who truly deserves COY, which in turn could be used every year. Perhaps the BCS would have some input as to how to go about doing this:)
  6. Gray is a beast. Only saw her play once here in the 16th vs my Lady Devils, and twice at Diddle. Can't wait to see her in that baby blue next year. CONGRATS!
  7. Iroquois could very well win it the next two years. GO PUBLIC!!!
  8. No to a State Title, in fact we will probably only see one of the three at the state tournament next year...if we're lucky. It's tough to get back to Rupp for teams that don't make it a habit.
  9. This thread is a joke. Who cares what the coaches do with the tickets! They earned them and should be able to do whatever they want with them!!!
  10. Great choice of words. You know what, you are probably right. I'm sure everyone voted objectively and noone, absolutely noone, had anything against any of the players who also deserved the award but didn't get it. What was I thinking that this could maybe have happened :creepy:
  11. Himmelfarb and Scooterbob I agree with you...London has had a great season. However, from years past, the winner of this award has gone to girls who have had outstanding careers. London doesn't have the numbers Queen and Grey have, and she will come in a close third. Careers and at least appearing in the state are two very important accomplishments to be a serious Miss K (at least it seems that way). If Rose Hill doesn't make it to state the last two years, Emily Queen would probably not be considered as good as she truly is!! I would love to see Emily Queen get this award, however it will probably go to Miss Grey, who obviously deserves it as well.
  12. This is a basketball award, however it's amazing how other things factor into the equation. It's as much a popularity contest as anything, and should be looked at as so, especially from the players' and their parents' point of view. No offense to the Daniels kid either!!! He's a class act and deserved this award, as well as did several others.
  13. Cinderella wants to go to the big dance, now that they have a game under their belt!
  14. Billy D will leave paradise and come to bball HEAVEN!!!
  15. Billy D will leave paradise to come to bball HEAVEN!!!
  16. Emily London is up there, perhaps the most competitive young lady I've ever watched live. Man she's intense. Just curious...how did her teammates like her? She was all over a couple of them during the game I watched...and they were up 20. I could be wrong, but I almost got a sense of resentment...or maybe it was just a bit of intimidation?? Either way, a true leader and motivator...AWESOME point guard.
  17. The over under for this game is 159 points;) :fight:
  18. Vanhoose only attended one high school, although he played for two...but what's that got to do with anything???
