2007 Highlands
It doesn't matter what it is that you know as a coach, it matters what your kids can do. I remember when I was in High School (mid-late 90's) Mueller had two great running backs in Frisk and Lickert, so what does he do, he runs the football and wins a state title in '96. In '98 he had the great Lorenzen/Smith combo. So what does he do, he throws the ball and wins a state title. And I could keep going on and on but the point of the matter is this, Coach Mueller is what I like to call a "chamelon" coach. The look might change, but the guts of the team (fundamentals and technique on both sides of the ball) never change and always get better. Highlands is so good because it begins in the youth program teaching the same "guts" of football and always getting better at it. This is a kudos to the entire community in Ft. Thomas. They're good because they care early on. That's just one man's opinion!

I got an idea on how highlands can get better............................How about just keep doing what it is that they have been doing under Dale Mueller for all the years that he has been there. Just a little suggestion

He's the new head coach at Conner.

2007 Holmes
1) Find stability within the school and transplant that into football. 2) Find a coach that WANTS to be there and help tht program become respectable again

Bracken County isn't exactly an attractive job either, but I know Chuck Faust and he has things going in the right direction from the Board of Education all the way down to the youth league. It isn't pretty right now and he has a long way to go, but he'll make that program respectable before he is all said and done.

Easier said than done. You have to win the war at home also with a lot of these kids, that is the first place for direction that any kid gets. Administrators and teachers can only take this so far. I am willing to bet that there a lot of great teachers/adminstrators in the school and they truley care about the kids and will do anything for them, but can only do so much. It is going to take everybody involved in order to get the ball rolling on this one!

KY1234, I agree totally. There has been some Cincinnati Public Schools who have reached a state of respectability. Unfortunately, I do not see this scenario happening right away at Holmes. As of right now, they are a transit school for many. Most people do not plan to stay to stay in Covigton and call it home and make a future there due to the situation not in just the school, but the city's living standards also. I beleive there best bet is to somehow get a CPS (Cincinnati Public School) coach. This will be hard because of the pay in Ohio vs. KY

2007 Bracken County
No, but he'll find the right people in due time!

2007 Bracken County
THey got a steal in coach Chuck Faust. You couldn't ask for a better man to coach a football team. He has coached for a long time and truley knows the game. Bracken Co. just needs to follow his lead!

You hit that right on the head:thumb: ! Teachers will have to answer to state officials walking around the halls dictating lesson plans to them constantly. You will have meetings all the time and I do not know if that will cut into football time after school or not.

2007 Grant County
Coach Davis has theprogram going in the right direction. I know Coach Davis personally and himself and his staff are working hard. Hopefully the district alignment will help them gain some success!

Holmes is in a funny situation right now with not only athletics, but academically also. Last year they ranked 222nd out of 227 high schools on the state testing and the state has taken full control. If they hire a teacher, they have a lot to put up with all around. Football is the connection, Teaching pays the bills.

The district had the job opening listed as saying that Covington Schools would take applications until 2-2-07. Just the other day they had switched the application deadline to 2-28-07. Maybe they are not getting who they want. Maybe they (Holmes administration) is tired of Holmes being a stepping stone job. Maybe they really want someone who will make them competitive. Good Luck to the Bulldogs in 07.

Yeagle to Lloyd?
Mike Yeagle would be an excellent addition to any school in NKY. His name alone will get kids out and another plus is that him and Roy Jr. already have a coaching relationship because of Roy Jr. coaching at Beechwood before he went to Newport to coach with Roy Sr.
