I was at the game today and Huntington High has a very good team. They have a good inside game with their two big guys. The guards handle the ball well too, but they don't shoot the 3 especially well. We will see soon enough about everyone's constant criticism that Elliott has not played anyone. Elliott is a very good basketball team and is well deserved of a top 20 ranking.

He was taken out early in the 4th quarter and sat out most of the 4th. But was put back in late in the 4th. I am not sure what the motive was.

I am not sure why he came back in. I thought maybe to get 40 points, but I think he only had about 34 when he came back in. So I am not sure on that one. But they did get more rest than usual. Ethan got to rest most of the 4th, as well. Elliott had an awesome 3rd quarter, which they pulled away. One of the more impressive quarters they have played this year.

Elliott blew them out in the 3rd quarter. Elliott played there reserves a lot in this game. Elliott was up about 38 in the 3rd quarter. Ferguson set out most of the 4th quarter. The starters got more rest in this game than they do most games. Elliott when on a 16-0 run to start the 3rd quarter. Ferguson was not put in until late in the 4th quarter. He was taken out after the first minute of the 4th.

This kid will be on the same level. He's still trying to find his way on this team. He played off the bench last year, but i know that he'll get there this year, I have no doubt. I only listened to this game, but I heard plenty of positives from him. He's not perfect, but he is very talented. So I know he will find his way, he's a freshman that found his way into the starting line-up on the defending champs line-up. Timmy Knipp will be alright.

Fleming County really suprised me in this game. They seem like a really solid team, which handled the Elliott press pretty well. Good luck in the future.

Yes, but so will every other team, which Cov Cath did not in the 5th 3rd. Like I said in the original post. Elliott was the only team that played in the quarter finals that had to play in the 1st round. Cov Cath is a great team, but I would love to see Elliott play them in the 1st or 2nd round of the state. Not after we played an extra game than them. Elliott goes about 7 or 8 deep, so yes it could be a problem in the state. But I would like to see them play on even rest.

Just looking ahead to Saturday. Does anyone know Huntington High's record this year?

I have watched Elliott play multiple times this year and Cov Cath is not better than Elliott in my opinion. Elliott had worst draw in the the 5th 3rd having to play 3 games straight and had the toughest draw of a second round game with the team from Tennessee at 9:30 at night. The Elliott boys were running on fumes in this game. I would love to see Elliott meet up with Cov Cath in the 1st or 2nd round of the state tournament. Elliott has Zero so called quality wins, but they are beating everyone on their schedule with the exception of Cov Cath. Elliott will play Hunington High this Saturday and will hopefully play in the Class A state. So we should get a better idea of how good this team is then. I believe this is a legitimate Top 5 school and I believe they will prove it in March.

I wish back in my day that scoring 29 was a sub par performance. But I agree that Ferg would have had 45 tonight if he were on the top of his game.

Exactally...Why should he not be happy? Evidently the 16th region officals have a problem with it. That is just sad.

The sad thing about it was that Ferguson was faced away from the ref. He couldn't have saw much from where he was at. It was evident that he wanted to call the "T" on Elliott. Great job in showing why sooo many fans have a problem with some refs.

Should a ref's reason be to appease another team's players? Seriouslly, that was a sad "T". I respect Rowan and wish their team nothing but the best for the rest of the season. I just think that call was VERY poor.

WOW! So much hatred in your response. For one I would put this Elliott team up against any team in the 16th in the last 20 years, they would accept your Pepsi challenge. No disrespect and I wish you and your mysterious team (Tomcats) the best of luck.

I hate the "T" that was called on Ferguson. He hit a shot and was excited about it and screamed, and not in the face of an opposing player's face. I understand the taunting "T", but the fact that it was called on him last year and again tonight is sad. He didn't spike the ball or yell at anyone, nor were there multiple players in on the celebration. LOL:D. I think the taunting "T" is way too subjective and the ref that called it, well I have nothing positive to say about his entire officiating game tonight, so I will refrain from commenting. But seriously, when does being excited and happy about your play become a technical? That is just silly, and I truely understand why that rule was put into place. But Ferguson's two the last two seasons were truely jokes. The two refs that called those two need to quit trying to find a reason and JUST DO THEIR JOBS. And as a fan I would tell them to their faces, but I would just kicked out of the game, LOL. Seriously, that call tonight was a disgrace on the entire 16th region ref-ing staff. Sorry to those of you that do your job night in and night out and do a great job. But at the end of this rambling, I will say this; GO LIONS!!!!!!

Check out the post I left earlier Louisville Courier Journal Litratings. Elliott County is ranked 4th in the state according to these ratings. Not that I necessarily agree with being rated that high right now, but it is good to see that they are getting so much recognition.

I know of 3. I didn't get to listen to the entire game. I believe 2 on Rowan County and 1 on Elliott County. I am not sure if there was anymore or not. Ferguson got 1 and a Rowan Co. player got 1. They gave Ferguson 1 for taunting, which I don't agree with. I think they were trying to even up the technical fouls.
