Boyd may have went undefeated in the mid 90s, but I am not sure. Morgan lost one or two a few years ago though. I can't really remember anyone in the last 20 years going undefeated in the 16th.

Your picture says a lot. Elliott is a great team, deal with it. There is no disrespect to the younger players. They play a ton in the JV games. I suppose the varsity players only deserve 16 minutes a game. They shouldn't get to play any more. These types of comments have been too much, Elliott's starters have worked hard for years and deserve to play. Quit bashing Elliott because they are doing well. And quit bashing the coaching staff for playing players that deserve to play. I suppose it was all good until Elliott started winning. If you know much about basketball, then you will enjoy watching Elliott play. They play hard and are a joy to watch.

Your opinion is just that, your opinion. My defense is they don't have anyone else to play and rather than hurting your or anyone else's feelings. Elliott is trying to get ready for the postseason. I guarantee you if Elliott pressed the entire game and tried, so hard just as you said then the game would have been a 70 point win. The majority of the wins would be alot larger blowouts than they were. In the West Carter game it was 48-17 at halftime. From your point of view, bench everyone then at halftime. If Elliott's starters only play half a game they will not be ready to compete in the state tournament.

Yes, Mason County should have plenty of Subs. They are a school I would guess about 2000 or 3000. Elliott County has 300 students. Like I said we could dip down to our Elementary schools or just let the girls team join forces with our boy's team. Our younger players are playing. Elliott's bench consists of 2 seniors, I believe a junior and 2 freshman. We start 4 juniors and a freshman. Who would you like them to play?

Exactly!!!:ylsuper: I appreciate a good post such as yours. It's a shame that others don't have the same insight as you and many others do (see GoRadio's comment, [Great comment, by the way]). Some people make big quotes that make them look less than intelligent. They type a lot of words about running up scores and about coaches that have coached 27 years not knowing as much about basketball as they do. As great as it must read to them when they type this stuff, it's just not all that great and never proves any point to someone that knows a little about the game. :ylsuper:

I only wish you had something else to talk about other than Elliott running up the score on every post. Maybe if there were a few close games you would have something else to talk about. Elliott was up what 48-17 at halftime last night.Maybe we can start playing our starters for one quarter, then get our 5th & 6th grade teams out there to get them some experience. Elliott is getting ready to make a run at the State tournament and they need to be ready, regardless of what everyone thinks about running up the score.

I agree with most of what you have to say. Of course I hope Elliott will represent the 16th in Richmond, but I know how dangerous the other teams will be in the Class A tourney. The best of luck to all teams involved. I didn't mean to get off topic, my bad. I just hate to hear some of the comments that I've heard. No disrespect to any of you that I don't agree with. No I don't think that, nor did I say that. I think the players that play are the ones that have the chance to contribute this season. Those kids on the bench are good kids and would play hard. I just feel that the players that normally play are playing to help with this season. The last 3 play at times, and will in the future. I don't think by getting a big lead that you should quit playing the players that you need in the current season. These times are the perfect time to play some starters with some bench players to see what could work. Don't put words in my mouth.

Elliott has 3 subs that are going to get quality time this season. The other three are great kids, but probably won't contribute much when needed. They play hard, but are just not quite up to the same level. The subs started playing a lot in the 2nd quarter and played a ton the second half. It really just appeard that the coach was mixing it up. I enjoy seeing Elliott play well and this is no disrespect to West. I respect every team Elliott plays and wish them the best, but I hope Elliott wins when playing them. I just think some people get way too upset about Elliott winning by so much, I've saw Elliott lose by 40+ several times in my life. It happens, I'm just glad to see Elliott on the winning side of these games. I've waited a long time to see it.

I don't think it was about demoralizing them. I think Elliott's coach uses big leads to look at some of the starters with some of the bench to find out what may work when needed. Should a coach just quit trying to be productive when up? That would be great so other teams can catch up. I do have a pretty warm and fuzzy feeling about seeing them get back to playing some great basketball, thanks for hoping so.

Elliott was never up 50. So, I guess we didn't have to worry about that tonight. West's starters were still in the game, so what's the point. Elliott didn't press in the second half and the starters rotated in the last quarter. Mays is a great coach and I'd venture to say he's spent a lot more time coaching than you. Vent as you will, but Coach Mays has worked hard for 27 years to get where he is today. I don't think his goal was to score 100, because all starters were out when that happened. It appeared he was looking at a few different line ups toward the end of the game. He's been questioned several times over the years, as have all coaches. One more person won't matter.

You must have had your head turned and missed them. There was about 3 times tht he was fouled very hard and it wasn't called. I'm not just saying this about the game against East, but this happens every game. If the reason is that the refs have something against a member of his family, that's a shame. I could say nothing positive about an adult who would take this out on a kid. That's very sad. Do the job you are paid to do!!!!

Makes sense to me. That would make me wrong in what I posted. But that is what I thought happened. Either way, it was an honest mistake. No matter, I still support the book keeper. She is very good and dedicated.

Very good Sportsfan. You always know the correct numbers. I believe the technical on Elliott was because there were 2 number 21's in the book. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. Elliott's newest varsity player wears 21 in the JV and 12 in the varsity. Of course Timmy Knipp wears 21 in the varsity for Elliott, so it appeared to be a slight mistake, oh well, it happens. The scorebook keeper for Elliott is very good at her job and has done it for years for the girls. She just stepped in to help the boys, and may have mixed up 2 players numbers. No big deal, no one is perfect, and she is darn good at keeping the books. Thanks for the hard work and dedication over the years, we at Elliott appreciate it.

This should be good for both teams. Elliott needs to win some close games before tournament time. East proved they are the 2nd best team in the region in my opinion. They played a near flawless games against the Elliott press. East shot I believe over or around 90% from the free thow line, outrebounded Elliott by 17, and only had 13 turnovers. Elliott was out rebounded 22-39. Also, East only had 13 turnovers and Elliott had 11 turnovers.

East made a great 4th quarter run on Elliott. Brandon Baker did a great job preparing for Elliott tonight.
