I have talked with various people in administration and would not be surprised if the position goes to someone in the district in an administrative position right now. Right now the talk is about 90% done.......Waiting for the smoke to clear.:sssh:
Sutton is the coach, Hicks is gone for a number of reasons......Play basketball and evaluate the situation at the end of the year. As far as the administration at GC, I know they would not have made any decisions during the year unless they were warranted. Let it go and focus on the current situation. Support the kids and hope they advance during tourney time. Remember, wins and losses mean nothing come district time. All the record books are cleared and the team that wants it the most wins. End of story.
Teacher first and everything else second. That is what is wrong with many systems giving coaches tenure and securing spots that would be much more beneficial having a individual teaching and have coaching duties for what they really are……..Secondary in the big picture. I would hate to have my career based on coaching. That is the problem with systems today creating jobs for people for the sake of getting of a coach. I am very disappointed with the press continuing to discuss this fiasco and GC schools should put as much effort into publishing what is really going well for the district. Let it go……Sutton should be commended for keeping things moving in a positive direction
Again, there is no rule that will not allow a principal to coach.....It depends on the super.......IMO Horn would have been a great asset to any team or program.
Again, it depends on the district. But, if you take the time to look at policy many districts work off of an "unwritten rule" that it can not be done. Basically, no policy in place, but that is just understood.
Mike Flynn is the head basketball coach and vice principal at Bourbon Co. High School. It depends on the district and the administration. I know a lot of districts would be much better off allowing some administrators running some of the high school programs.
