I don't know if this is the case or not with coach Mueller tonight, but I have seen coaches use their best receiver as a defensive weapon, taking the oppositions best defender totally out of the game by running him away from the play when the defense is in man-to-man. Going into tonight, I thought this might happen. Welch is obviously a star, but he could not single handedly cover 2-3-4-5 very good receivers. Collinsworth may have been the MVP without catching a pass, by taking Welch out of the game.
