  1. Steppe reached and slapped all night. He's lucky it took as long as it did to get him 3 fouls. As for the whistle down the stretch, I saw what I saw, and that was a favorable whistle for JBS. Miller got called for a horrible 5th foul with about 2 minutes left. Then, as JBS was down 3, they drove to the basket, got a blocking call and made the basket. The Mason County player was planted in that spot about 2 seconds before the JBS player got there. I didn't say JBS homered them or cheated their brains out. I said they got a few whistles down the stretch, and they did.
  2. Love the run Powell is on with the big boy back! Powell looks like like contender now in the 14th. Coach Lovely is a great addition to this team.
  3. Clark will dominate NCC. Ninth region basketball doesn't want no part of Clark. Knowles is a machine!
  4. What's going on with Covington Holmes? They are making good passes, running the floor, and they seem to be able to read each other. My goodness, they're looking like a basketball team. This is not the young Holmes team I saw a couple of years ago in the state tournament. This is a more mature team with promise. They have the horses, so if they can stick together like they showed me this weekend, they can make a run. Good job Coach Henley!
  5. I must admit that I'm now a believer in JBS. I wasn't sold on them until I saw the Mason County game, but now I do think they are for real. Steppe is a good player, still trying to do too much at times, but still a good player. I absolutely love the Cox kid. If you leave him open, you can write it down. I also love the way that he stays within himself and doesn't try to do too much (I guess having two guys playing that way would cause too much internal trouble though). The big boy has improved leaps and bounds. He is a legit 6'8" because he towered over the 6'5" Miller, and he can make a lay-up. Let's face it, if you're 6'8" and can make a lay-up, especially in the mountains, you are effective. Throw in the other 2 kids that have size and know their roles and you have a very talented ballteam. I realize that the whistle did favor JBS down the stretch, and it made the game a real nail-biter. However, the Crusaders made a statement to the rest of the state that they can play basketball.
  6. I am a Jackson fan, but i cheer for all Breathitt Co. teams. Noble just looked real comfortable against the Hazard press. I wish him and Fugate the best. I hope you get to see more Breathitt games, they are fun to watch.
  7. I can understand not having a winning season, but winning only 4 games is a little disappointing. These kids are only 9 months older than they were at the end of last season and they seem to have a totally differenty attitude. They look like they are in better shape and play a lot harder.
  8. I saw the game between Hazard and Breathitt and thought Breathitt was well prepared for this game. I think Hazard beat them by 35-40 last year. Breathitt could be a threat by March
  9. Fugate kid is going to be a good player with time. He is more of a 2 guard or small forward than a point guard. From the couple of games I have seen, Noble is the right choice at the point.
  10. I was responding to the post made by roundball about coach hall winning the close game. It had nothing to do with coach banks. Jackson lost a 7 point lead to a 1-2 East ridge team.
  11. Jackson has won 2 games. They beat a down Wolfe Co. by double figures and South Floyd by double figures without their best player Ethan Johnson. They have lost 3 games by 4 points, 3 points, and 2 points. Are you sure that Coach Hall can win a close game?
  12. I think Hazard is still a top 10 team even if Hicks doesn't get 25-30 a night and so is PCC if Bailey doesn't get 25-30, but im not convinced that Jackson can win without Davidson performing every night.
  13. I think they rely completely on Davidson. A top 10 team consists of a more balanced attack.
  14. 1. Hazard 2. JBS 3. PCC 4. Breathitt 5. Buckhorn 6. Lee 7.Knott 8. Powell 9. Letcher 10. Cordia
  15. I disagree. Cordia has some internal problems, but Honeycutt has them playing hard and probably as well as they have all year. Breathitt seems to be a real contender. Coach Banks has those guys playing hard and they find a way to win.
  16. I agree with Bigcat, Smith played well against one of the best teams in the region. He is hard to handle in the post.
  17. I would have to say that the original post had some good guard combos, however the Watkins kid from Jackson is not one of the top players in the region. I saw them a few times the past couple years and he really struggles handling the ball. Davidson carries him.
