So are you not a UK football fan? I would find it extremely hard to believe you were after you've made these ludacris comments. Couch put excitement in UK football. It sure wasn't Bill Curry that did it.

Thank you. I'll think about you cheering for us as I drive to Loserville on Dec. 1st. Sorry. Got ahead of myself there.

I agree on two things. I, too, don't know where this notion that Rock has a killer schedule. I didn't say that. I said "tougher." Tougher doesn't exactly mean brutal. I also agree that whoever the winner plays in the next round, either CCH or Lexington Catholic University, is going to have their hands full.

I appologize if I sounded like a jerk. But the way you put your first response hit me the wrong way and ran all over me.

You're right. You can give your prediction. But maybe it's because, I think, that's the largest margin of victory for either team. Most people are in agreement that it will be a td or less. As far as what you said to me, maybe it has to do with you using exlamation marks and sounding like you were on a rant and throwing a tantrum because I talked about the schedule. The first word in the first post that you replied to me said it all "Seriously!" That made me believe you were foaming at the mouth with anger and in attack mode. If that's not how you felt, maybe you shouldn't use puncuation that would imply that.

Fine. If you can't see it then I'm not taking the time to try and point it out. So I'm going to drop it. 35-21 huh? That's an interesting prediction since we haven't given up 35 points all year. That's even including Lincoln and Harrison counties. Are you aware that even with your weak schedule, as you admit to having, that Rock has only given up 18 more points at this point in the season? The same Ashland team that gave you your toughest challenge yet has given up 80 more than us. I just wanted to make sure you were aware of that.

Well first of all, you started out with "Seriously!" That looked to me like an aggressive statement. Then you started complaining out how I'm being redundant and stating the same thing that people have stated all year. I know the game is played on grass and not paper. Somebody pointed out how Bell was averaging 28 points a game and we shut them out. One of JC's supporters said so what, 28 points is our lowest output of the year. I'm saying that 28 points may be your lowest output, but that's easy to do if you play weaker teams. You haven't put up those numbers against a team like our's. I have no idea whether or not you were supposed to beat Ashland. From what I hear, if Ashland could hold on to the ball, we wouldn't even be having this discussion anyway. I'm sure our coaches will look at the film from what they did and see how they shut Grim down and duplicate or improve on that game plan. Second, I referred to the Ashland game in 2001 to point out the similarities to how people said we couldn't stop Beach, and we did. JC's fans have made similar statements about us not being able to stop Grim. That's why I mentioned that game. Besides, you jumped my post before I said anything to you. I was just returning fire. Don't tell me to calm down when you're the one that started it. Maybe that wasn't what you intended, but that's the way it came across.

Yeah, but I think you missed what I was trying to say.

You might be right about them passing. I don't really remember though. I didn't even know they had a QB then. I just remember Beach so much that I thought he lined up behind center and took the snap and got the ball on every play. Of course I'm joking. But we made halftime adjustments and shut him down. But what I was saying is, if we can shut Beach down, then I would expect us to hold Grim in check. He'll probably have some yards and maybe a score. But I would be shocked if he had his typical game.

Seriously! I have no idea how many times people have talked about your weak schedule. You know why? Because I only joined SATURDAY!!!! I'm not going back through all those posts to see what others have said about you. The point is, regardless of who you've played this year and how good they are, you haven't faced a defense like the Rock's. In 2001 Ashland and Arliss Beach came to the Rock and all we heard about was how we couldn't stop him. The first half, they were right. We scored a TD just before the half to make it 14-7. He ran all over us. But what did he do in the second half??? Zero, zilch, nada!! We ended up winning, I believe it was, 28-14. You can about bet the farm that JC will have to throw this week if they intend to win. We won't let Grim beat us. And we can defend the pass too. Clay Co. was averaging over 400 yards passing the first time we played them. Bell Co. had a spread offense this past Friday. It didn't work for either of them. Maybe JC will win. It would shock me that much. After all, you're supposed to. But on Friday if you realize that you can't move the ball like you have against every team so far this year, don't be surprised.

Nah, shouldn't affect us. Like I said, LexCath did it last year and it was 21-20 at halftime. It was those dang players on their team that we had so much trouble with. If we could've figured out how to eliminate them, I don't think we could've been stopped.

SOS is very much a factor. They were talking about it on MNF just a few minutes ago. It's easy to put up huge numbers against weaker teams. For instance, on ESPN.com Page 2's column Tuesday Morning Quarterback (I think that's the column) has made several references against a college in Kansas that has set the national record for points in a season. They go no-huddle and fake punt when ahead by 50. But whenever they get to the Div. II playoffs, they always loose against a descent team. Congrats on beating 4A Bryan Station. But why didn't you mention in your attempts to make your schedule sound better that they finished the season 2-8? Doesn't matter much how close those games were, that's still not a very good year. You also didn't mention that you beat 4A North Laurel. But they were 3-7. Not so good either. I also might add that you played 1A Paintsville, that finished the season at 5-5 and lost in the first round. I realize that they're probably a rivalry that is played every year. But it doesn't help your cause too much. Now let's look at Rock's schedule. We played a 4A team too. Lincoln Co. They finished 10-2 and lost by 1 in the playoffs. They lost to PRP who finished 7-4 before loosing to Male. And they lost to GRC in the playoffs who are now 8-4. We lost by 3 points, even though if you watch the film, we had plenty of chances to win. They were ahead 21-0 at the end of the first, and had probably less than 50 yards the rest of the game. Assuming that one of the out of state teams finished at .500 or better, that means that JC played 4 teams that finished the regular season at .500 or better. Rockcastle played 7.

Lexington Catholic does the same thing. We weren't bothered too much by it last year. I don't look for that to be a problem. I will say this, after our game against Bell, somebody from Rock was talking to one of our scouts at your game on the phone as your game was coming to an end and he made a reference to the music being very loud. But that was all that was said.

That's good to hear. It is a boy, is it not? I have an 8 week old boy. I wonder if they coach will get any sleep this week? Possibly thinking about the game and the baby keeping him up. I know I get very little sleep with mine.

For some reason, they usually seem to get off to a slow start. In 2002, a year after loosing the state finals and returning most of the starters, we lost the first game of the year to Mason Co. Then we ran the table again until we returned to the state finals in 2002. Last year we got dismantled by Danville in the first game and made it to the semi-finals. It takes awhile to get such a powerful machine going on all cylinders.

Have you actually compared the two schedules? I'm not saying look at them. I mean actually do the math. The 8 in state teams that JC played were combined 36-44 or something like that. The WV team that JC played at one time was like 1-5. That's not very good either. Rock's 10 opponents were 50-50, a much better record. That's counting Bourbon Co (0-10) and PCC (1-9). Take those two teams away and the combined record is 49-31. That's a HUGE difference in schedules. You're going to say there's little difference between 36-44 and 50-50?

Rockcastle County (11-1) at Johnson Central (12-0)
You're going to look at the first game of the year and make an observation from that? The only game Rock lost was to Lincoln Co (10-2) by 3 points. Besides, Rock's schedule was CLEARLY a tougher schedule. Look at the win/loss records of their opponents. Rock's opponents clearly has a better combined record. Plus, not to toot our own horn, but JC hasn't played Rock's defense this year. 61 points the first time on Clay, 39 the next. 47 on Harrison Co. Both of those playoff teams. 74 on Bourbon, 41 on LCC, 54 on Madison Southern, 48 on PCC. You call that struggling to score? I admit, it's not the same offense of a few years back. BUT....our QB had never played QB until this year and our HB Dusty Miller was injured in the first game last year and missed the rest of the season and he's not doing too bad this year if you haven't noticed. What does this mean?? Not much, besides the fact that we don't really struggle to put points up......but our opponents do.

OK. If you say so. I have no idea. I was talking more along the lines of when he was with the "Brown Spots." He got beat at Rockcastle too. I'm friends with Rock's QB that year and he says, "Yeah, I beat Tim Couch," and then laughs. Even though I said was angered, I really was laughing while I typed that last post. I can understand HOW people can say that. I just don't understand WHY they would.

OK. Now you've done it. You've angered me. Couch is not a bust. Let's look at it. The Browns were one of the worst expansion teams ever. He got sacked about 943 times that first season. Nobody can complete a pass if they get sacked. Plus, Couch is the only QB to lead them to the playoffs. Not Holcomb that replaced him, not multi Pro Bowler Jeff Garcia, not Trent Dilfer. Just Couch, and only Couch. Besides, just like Leftwich in Jacksonville, he's in the wrong system to show just how good his is. He just needs to be surrounded by better players. Even Brady is looking bad now that he has very little support.

It depends on which QB shows up. He's a senior, but only played WR until this year. Some games he's been Tim Couch-like and has done a really good job. Other games, not so good. But he can throw if he needs to. We have some really good receivers. We just usually run and don't call many pass plays.

Brad Durham isn't out. He's just fine. But yes, it is nice to have him run block. With Brad being 6'5" and Dusty Miller being about 5'5" it's like driving a Honda through a hole in a wall that a semi truck just went through. The injured lineman was #62 (I can't remember his name). Brad is #74. You'll know Brad if you see him. He's almost a whole head taller than the rest of the team. But I've heard that #62 could be our next big lineman to play somewhere. Probably not Loserville though.

Exactly. My wife was asleep when the game went off and she woke up for a little bit to feed our son. I had a huge smile and did my happy dance. I explained to her how the football gods were not happy. She's a halfway football fan. She'll go to games, but doesn't really know much of what is going on. She's angry about the whole thing too. She knows Brad and his mom and also agrees that they are good people and it was wrong.
