To be fair, I think every team that thinks they deserved Alabama's spot would have gotten ran over too.

The problem is that the portal and transfers have to happen before the 2nd semester starts. If you fire a coach in November or early December you can't wait until mid January to hire your next coach.

Tempe would be a nice landing spot for sure.

The only team that I think can physically matchup with them is Georgia, but UGA has some work ahead to even think about playing IU.

Half of Alabama's team will jump in the portal by this time tomorrow.

Maybe, but he put enough on film that I can see a team wanting him. This team was trash most of the year and he still put up decent numbers, in the right situation he could be very successful.

I'd guess he's already been offered more than UK was willing/able to pay. I think he'll announce new school quickly once the portal opens. He put enough on film this year, that a lot of coaches are going to like what they saw.

Alabama's inconsistent play gives me much pause in this game. If they can run effectively they might be able to dictate the pace of the game today.

Last year it was odd but not totally unexpected as Boise St and Arizona St were both in the top 4 as conference champs. With the tweek this year,(seeding the top 4 regardless of winning a conference or not) I think everyone was pretty confident that the top 4 were the actual top 4 teams. One problem is that many times the "Top" teams are considered that due to their final record. A team with zero losses or just one loss is automatically considered the best of the best. But if they weren't really challenged during the season it can hide a lot of flaws. Ohio State this year, even Georgia last year. Georgia's wins even against ranked teams, were against teams that the season would grade out as mostly mediocre. I thought Ohio State was the most talented team, but they folded the first time a team really fought back. Notre Dame will be in that position next year, with a soft as butter schedule they likely will roll into the playoffs undefeated and ranked at or near the top. But, if they open the playoffs next year against teams that have been in a few battles, Notre Dame won't last long.

Both teams played better defense than I expected, even in a loss TT D played well enough to win. Oregon needs to play cleaner if they expect to win again.

Missed nearly all of this doing family stuff tonight. Surprised but not really, Miami D already looked to be the best D Ohio State had played and they proved it. I thought the issue for Miami would be not enough offense. Another CFP BYE Team bites the dust. Something to be said for teams getting rid of rust and nerves in the first round.
