  1. The best team I ever saw in the 9th region had to be the 78 holmes team. I was at that state tourney along with the 80 and 81 tourneys. SK had a great run and if you go on the premise that they won state and know one else has then you have to say they were the best, but the best team I witnessed was Holmes 78 they had size quickness and they played extremely good together. As for Sk I would put them behind the 80 holmes team as well, as someone has already mentioned SK's team was beaten pretty badly by Holmes in 80.
  2. Yes it is at Holmes but the start time is 7:00. I don't know if it is the city of Covington or Holmes but one of them mandates a 7:00 start time. As for the game I agree this would definetly be the biggest upset yet for HC, they struggled with Bishop last year. This game win lose or draw for HC will help down the road, SK has size depth and a very balanced offense that will help prepare them for the 2 class A big boys.
  3. Is SK the 3rd 4A school to fall or does HC' s streak end
  4. Penny was a difference maker. Offensively Holmes killed themselves with penalties but defensively it was there inablility to stop the inside run that did them in. Once Penny came in in the second quarter HC looked like a different offense. Holmes had saveral chances to get the D off the field but could not stop HC on 3rd and 4th down. The 2nd half TD pass came after about 12 consecutive runs. Holmes has a chance to be a contender in 4A this year but they have to eleminate the stupid penalties ( way to many false starts and you can't have unsportsmanlikes).
  5. While we are talking about officiating there were 4 chopblock calls in this game does anybody know if this is a point of emphasis this year. All of these calls were made pretty close to the line of scrimmage.
  6. I was at the game, and as the official came in from the other side he was waving it off immediatly and I thought I saw him giving the juggling sign as if to say he never had control of the football. I thought the officials did a pretty good job that play and the fumble in the end zone by HC were both really close calls but in the end I thought they were both right.
  7. I have not seen Scott but I think they lost to Ludlow in a scrimmage. If that is the case it would have to be considered a big upset if they were to get a w against Holy Cross after 2 impressive performances in their scrimmages. Not to discount Ludlow they will be in the thick of the playoff race and may give HC fits themselves but, after a w against Newport who is ranked 7th in the state 2A and a thumping of Greenup co. who is 3A HC has to be a pretty heavy favorite.
  8. penny will be out at least 4 weeks
  9. holy crosss varsity won 21-7 in the first half. Greenup co. scored on their first possesion but did not get a single firstdown after that. i did not see any of the jv or freshman. hc was balanced on offense and very strong on defense.
