I do believe that Eky stars had one kid im not going to name names but a big man that suspiciosly left the team right before nationals in the 8th grade maybe. Then later it was kind of made known that he wasnt legal. And yes they might have all been from the 16th but different schools. The Tarheels starting 5 were supposed to be at Holmes.

I know this is an old thread but I just want to go back and clear up a few things. First off the Tarheel team had Duran at the point, Hester at the 2, Hill at the 3, Edmonson at the 4 and Rice at the 5. That was supposed to be the team that went to Holmes together. They did play as a team and was unbelievable to watch. They pressed all game long and ran the floor non-stop. I've seen this team have a team down 25-0 after the first quarter. I've seen this team in their 5th grade year finish 16th in the nation down in Cocoa Beach FL. I remember Mike Hester knocking down 10 threes in one game up in Dayton and this was like in the 7th grade. And I truly believe that Duran ran the point with this team to perfection. He had everything you could ask for Rice down low for those easy drop-offs, Austin cutting the baseline and Mike and Nate outside the arc waiting to knockdown another three. As for the Eastern Ky allstars. First off this team was an All-star team grabbing kids from all over the eastern part of the state. And by the way an illegal Allstar team who later got caught for having an older kid playing for them the whole time. So legally I guess you could say that between their 4th grade year and their 9th grade year no aau team in this state could touch the tarheels. This team was a true joy to watch and I am sure if they could of played together in High School would have done some amazing things.

Simon Kenton and Shelby Co play a regular season game this year at Shelby Co. Cant remember the date but I know its on the schedule.

And by the way, I know Austin Hill and his family really well. OK. His mom, his grandma and grandpa, his aunt and his younger sister. I know them all better than you so dont tell me who I do and dont know PERSONALLY. And Austin will be just fine, he does stay out of trouble and does work hard. He will wind up at some college or university playing basketball and will be just fine. As for the whole Holmes team, I dont and wont feel sorry for them. You reap what you sow.

Im sorry guys, why dont you share with us this heartfelt story of the poor Bulldog team of 2006. Please do!!! All I know is what is reported. And Fights in the locker room and one player throwing fits on the floor and getting technical fouls and costing his team a game is all im hearing.

Excuse me but I just cant find it in my heart to feel sorry for these kids. Im pretty sure " all the things they went through last year " was of their own doing. That's why it's called self-destruct, it's their fault.

I agree that Nate is no inside presence for Holmes on offense but im talking about rebounding and defense. You could put Nate on anybody 5'10 to 6'5 and feel that he should be able to guard them. I dont think you can do the same with Avery. One other thing is Holmes really doesnt need another guard like Avery on the floor. You got Duran and Austin who can penitrate and create shots for their teammates they need someone who will knock down those shots. Avery is not a great outside shooter and neither is Duran so your relying on Austin to be your lone threat from behind the arc.

I really must not know the game of basketball than, because if goaltending is a great thing then Wade should have won Mr Basketball. And if thats what Shelby expected out of him than good for them they got what they wanted, a guy who averages 8 pts a game and 8 pts a game for the opposing team. Your right though everybody who was at that game was saying how Wade was the reason why Shelby won. Yeah thats it.

If anybody here thinks that Avery is going to fill in for Edmonson. Just realize that not only are they losing the talent of Nate but also the size. I think Nate goes around 6'3 while Avery stands around 5'7 or so.

I think it's fair to say that the Rockets expected a little more out of Wade than they got. He was'nt even starting for them in the region tourney.

I would as well. I think this might just be their year. I would love to see these seniors who have been through alot together get a chance. Especially Hester, he has been starting for this team since the 9th grade and has played his heart out every year for his team. I would love to see him get a chance to play in Rupp.

I actually do know the circumstances. I know Nate and his family and ive known them since Nate was in the 5th grade. I also know that Nate could have stayed at Simon Kenton if he wanted but decided he wanted to go back to Holmes. And all I heard this year was how much Nate couldnt stand playing with certain kids on Holmes team and that he didnt get the ball enough. Im sorry, im not bashing the kid, im just saying he seems hard to please.

I heard you guys were trying to get Mike Hester to play for you. Is he now?

Well I certainly wasnt one of those fans. I actually thought the tourney was great and the setting at Henry Co was more than the 9th could offer.

Yeah, you know he started as a freshman at SK and was averaging around 14 pts a game but couldnt stand losing and couldnt see that the team was full of talented freshman and would be special in a few years. So he goes off to Holmes and complains about not getting the ball enough and leaves there.

I didnt say anything about SK being a mythical giant or having a cakewalk, just stating a fact that they have the best player in the region and the overall best talent.

I'm so sick of hearing about Edmonson transfering or not transfering. It makes you wonder why this kid cant stay in one place. He had a great situation at SK but couldnt wait for the team to improve.

Seth will have to fill the void that Schambach left. He wont be able to play defense like Phil or shoot as consistent but if he can knock down a few open threes here and there and help out on the boards they should be ok. :thumb:

Corey Sorrel might be 6'3 but doesnt play like it. His only concern is shooting threes.

Last year I didnt see anybody on their team 6'6. Their center was about 6'1 or so.

With the way they played in the tournament last year and the talent they have coming back. (of course the region losing the state's best player does'nt hurt either) The Pioneers should be the team to beat next year. I expect a huge season out of Mike Hester and an even better and stronger Josh Elbert and Josh Hurd.

My top 5 1)Holmes 2)Simon Kenton 3)CovCath 4)Holy Cross 5)Bishop I think Holmes is the most talented team in nky. With or Without Edmonson. If they can keep themselves from self-destructing, no one up here should beat them. SK is the second most talented team and have been together for four years now. Last year the Pioneers played CovCath tough and I think the loss of Tierney will hurt more than expected. Holy Cross is a good team but lack of size hurts the Indians.
