  1. Billy Hicks nephew Jim Hicks is entertaining as well. I know a lot of people who use to watch him instead of the game. Randy Ward went to the concession for a pepsi during the game.
  2. I had a coach sit down and opened a pepsi and said "Keep running until I get tired" That was fun day, lol. Run them. I had to run bleachers for making a bad pass before.
  3. It was a boring game until the 4th quarter.
  4. Like I said before I'm not denying anything he does on or off the court. If I were a coach, I would love to have a player like him.
  5. I wasn't disrespecting him. I was trying to go back to talk about the GAME. There have been many players that have came through the Region who played with heart, intangibles, and leadership and they were never in the Top 5.
  6. I agree, Barker will play at the next level.
  7. No, I don't know how many points Barker had. If I were to guess, under 12 or 15. From all the hype you would think he was a super star. I call it how I see it. If you read my earlier posts, I gave Fairview credit. Just giving my opinion on an overrated player when there are other players out there that are good enough to play at the next level that need some recognition to help them make it there. 16th region in general has a problem of picking out a handful of players and publicizing them to death. How about the others, they deserve to be in the spotlight even for a little while. It's just one game. I give him all the credit in the world for what he does on and off the court, but just critizing all the hype about him. I joined Bluegrasspreps so I can give my opinion. Just because my opinion might not be the popular one, it doesn't mean it's not the right one. I have a feeling you all only read the sentences you all want to read and not all of it.
  8. Who wouldn't want him on your team?? He plays for the Team and he can shoot. I am not denying his abilities and your probably right he is probably maximizing all of his potential more than anyone in the region. However, his name should not be mentioned in the Top 5 players in the 16th region. There was a player who graduated from East Carter '03 and his name is Greg Cherry and was a point guard for them. He was a better ball player than Alex Barker is now and he did not receive the recognition Alex Barker is receiving now. There are other players in the region this year, who are not receiving the recognition they deserve that Alex Barker is receiving now. However, back to the game. Fairview stuck around and pulled out the win.
  9. NO!! This was my first time I got to watch Barker play. He ended up making the game winning basket and Greenup had 2 tries and failed. Fairview has a lot of work to do. Barker cannot do anything with a little pressure. He had a horrible time getting something going offensively. My assumption was there was a lot of hype on this Alex Barker and I came to the conclusion he is overrated. He is not as good as people have made him out to be. I will give him the credit he can hit the jumpshot and the three (when he's OPEN). He's 5'8 and not quick enough for his height to make Fairview a contender of the 16th region. But they could make it interesting in the 64th district and thats it.
  10. Greenup led the whole way, selfish play kept the Musketeers away from a win. For the players who do play for THE TEAM, I wish you all the best and the fastest way for all of the distractions get behind you. We all love you and appreciate how hard you all try. Keep up the hardwork!
  11. Where is Wolfenbarker, he is better than Barker by far.
  12. They led at half by 16 and Greenup took the lead down early in the 3rd. Wolfenbarker had to sit, and the game was over.
  13. There are 3 other spots and haven't got beat by a team out of the Top 5.
  14. Therefore, the next team that a Top 5 team gets beat by a Top 5 Team is out of the Top 5. Makes sense...
  15. I will go with your thinking on Elliott Co. but not your thinking on Greenup Co.
  16. In the 3rd quarter the game was about a 10 point difference
  17. Middleton was out for Greenup. Wolfenbarker in foul trouble and received an inappropriate elbow to the head and no foul. Greenup's TEAM defense wasn't very good. Tough to beat a team like Elliott Co. without good TEAM defense. The game was within striking distance for Greenup from 16-6 points. In the 3rd quarter the game was about a 10 point difference. Thats when Wolfenbarker received the elbow and had to sit out for a bit. Greenup was out of tune. The fouls were called different on both ends. All played a part. The score definately doesn't show how close the game was, but when it was over, it was over.
  18. My team I root for went to a Christmas tournament away and just not the games my team played in but the others games that played before or after us. I seen several out-of-state teams experience terrible officiating in the tournament; especially when they were playing a KY team. Then the local teams of the tournament would get better calls than the away KY teams. Every time a team in the 16th region plays on the road, the calls are definately not even. Thats including the fouls that are not made and fairly from "mugging to touch fouls". Seems like it is very prevalent in every game.
  19. I hope I don't get fined for saying this like NBA coaches and players, but the officiating wasn't nearly fair. I am one who can see both ways, but this game definately gave a home-court advantage. I know there have been many games this year I have seen officiating liberally call for one team. Why is this a common thing in Kentucky High School basketball? Officials should allow the kids to play but allow the calls be even. Let the same fouls be fouls on both ends. I have witnessed games where one team receives a foul in my opinion "touch foul" and the other team receives a foul in my opinion a "mugging". Whether a team is good or bad, officiating can determine a game. It may not be in every case, the results may be different. A team may only get beat 10 points instead of 40 points if the officiating was fair or a team could get beat 40 points instead of 10 points if the officating was fair. I have seen this very prevalent in the 16 Region myself. In the 16th region, the home team for the most part receives all the calls. There a lot of times the fouls that are not called are the ones that the cost the game. How could this problem be corrected by the post-season or next year.?
