  1. I can tell you that I only have one user-name. But compare to Mark Maynards preseason Top 10 how would you rank the postseason Top 10?
  2. Ward is coaching at Clay in Portsmouth Zornes was forced out at Ironton, because their football fanatics and don't like basketball is getting some publicity.
  3. Mark Maynard did a preseason Top 10 now lets rank the postseason Top 10. Players personally have told me Ferguson is unbelievable, probably the BEST player in the region after Owens of course. Ferguson had an impressive game against Greenup who probably had the best defense in the Region. Last 4 teams in the Regional Tournament was Russell, Fairview, Greenup, and Elliott. Greenup and Fairview players are not getting no love to get that far.
  4. 1. Owens - Extraordinaire 2. Ferguson - Can flat play 3. McCowan - Tough year round 4. VanHoose - Tough when it counts 5. Jones - Impressive Scorer 6. Wolfenbarker - Real knack for the ball, Scorer 7. McDavid - Do it all 8. Daniel - Tough to stop at times 9. Thomas - Who is more athletic? 10. Barker - Scoring Threat
  5. The season is over; how well did Mark Maynard do ranking the Top 10 players of the 16th Region and how would you rank them now with the season over. Are there some players that need to be added or dropped out of the Top 10, post your Top 10 and explain why? Mark Maynard's Top 10 Players of the 16th Region 1.Jon VanHoose Jr. Russell 2.Drew McDavid Jr. Ashland 3.Antonio Owens Sr. Boyd Co. 4.Blake McCowan Sr. Morgan Co. 5.Matthew Daniel Jr. Rowan Co. 6.Matt Thomas So. Ashland 7.Kalen Jones Sr. West Carter 8.Austin Blair Jr. Russell 9.Billy Blanton Jr. Boyd Co. 10.Ethan Faulkner Fr. Elliott Co.
  6. Roger Zornes former Boyd County Coach Randy Ward former Greenup County Coach
  7. 16th Region All-Tournament Selections M.V.P. J.Ferguson-Elliott M.Daniel- Rowan K©. Jones- West Carter T.Wolfenbarker- Greenup C.Black- Fairview J.Hutchinson- Fairview (also Defensive Player Of Tourney) S.Gill-Russell Evan Faulkner-Elliott A.Blair-Russell R.Weddington-Elliott J.Vanhoose-Russell D.McDavid-Ashland Blazer All these players are good, more than half of them almost never got recognition like weddington, (faulkners), ferguson, wolfenbarker, jones, daniel, hutchinson. You can't say they been sleepers, they can play and should get more recognition.
  8. tell me what rowan co. has? rose hill will be a solid team but after next year; it will be all Rose hill
  9. i wasn't bashing anyone, if anyone i would never bash a kid, i see where anyone could of gotten that. Bashing the Daily Independent, yes. They should make a point to give every star "spotlight" on every team. I mean Ashland is the target because thats the school that the players get "spotlight" just because they play there. Daily Independent, Mark Maynard puts a piece in the Cats Pause. These things add up.
  10. lets get off of this subject; who are the top 5 teams in the 16th region
  11. part of the Rose Hill fiasco, Matt Thomas, i mean if all those kids stayed at the Hill when Mayo left they would be heck of a team Bret Miller, Arabaugh
  12. yea, as the 16th region; anyone involved whether your a coach of a different team should help every kid a scholarship or something to play in the next level and education; that is what it should be.
  13. Interested in your comment, could you elaborate more.
  14. Greenup beat Russell 3 times this year; Solid Senior Class Ashland could be 4 spot depends how good Morgan is like you stated - unproven
  15. 1. Elliott Co. - 3 Stars back 2. Morgan Co. - Know how to win 3. Greenup Co. - Experience - Solid Seniors 4. Russell - Region champs, but not the best TEAM in the region 5. Rowan Co.; East Carter; West Carter; Ashland - up for grabs Is this Respectable?
  16. Ok lets say he does deserve the credit. Where is all the credit for the other kids that also play their hearts out and are true basketball players that can make it to the next level but never got an opportunity. I am stating kids from almost any team in the 16th region at some point had a player in the top 100 in the state and the player didn't make it because its all about recognition. Morgan Co. has produced a lot of players that should be playing in college in recent years, east carter, greenup co., boyd co., russell, possibly rowan co. and maybe other players i can't think of. If the players from those schools played for Ashland they would of got a lot more recognition and get a chance to play in college. Daily Independent should advertise all players in the 16th region to help all players out to get them to the next level, education, etc. I feel there is a more than slight favoritism toward Ashland players
  17. Add a bit: If other players that play now or graduated in years past played for Ashland some of them would have a chance to play college ball, because of the recognition helps so much in recruiting and getting displayed or even a D1 scholarship.
  18. In almost every situation, the kids are great, fabulous people. They don't get the credit like they should. Its every one that plays for Ashland gets more reconigtion, so therefore the public thinks they are better players than what they are. Players through out the region are far more better players and don't get the credit that they deserve. Drew is probably a great kid, but as a basketball player he is not as good as papers, public, etc. say he is.
  19. I totally went brainhead. I apologize. Russell is Region Champs and didn't mean to take nothing away from them. They are going to be a good team in the region but their not the top 3 teams in the region. They played teams at the right time. That is what March is all about, every team has a chance. I apologize again.
  20. They are all 3 good athletes, but their not basketball players. I've watched them play. They are very good athletes but not basketball players. Well they can be placed at 5th ranking if that will make ya feel better. This is a real weak Ashland team in a long time. A loss of a 6-8 player really hurt this team and they are always able to produce a 6-8 center. Ashland is going through a rocky road right now. They have great tradition but were are discussing about the current team.
